Streaming Mail?

In our office, if you feel you cannot complete your duty, you are told to stream the mail. Mailsort first, then second class. This is a pointless exercise as it takes as long to stream it, as it does to take it. The union have told us that we as postmen/women are not allowed to stream the mail and that it is up to management to stream it. Can anybody confirm this, and also if anybody has a printout of the procedure, please post it on here. Thank you.

At my DO we never stream its all delivered either by the Walk Holder or anyone wanting docket for the "Cut Off".

Yeah we used to 'cut off' and the additional work was offerd on overtime. However at the moment, we are told to streamline the mail in the frame, i'e. take all the mailsort and second class out of the frame. The information you gave was useful, but I was wanting to see if delivery staff are actually allowed to stream or if it is up to the manager to stream the mail.

royal mail is suppose to be clear frame policy if you dont want the overtime to clear your frame its up to dom to get it cleared , but when you read some posts on here no office works the same bloody shocking its suppose to be one buisness

We don't stream the mail in our office, we just leave it in the trays when it arrives so it can be there for days. And this is progress Oh and as for parcels they get cleared once a week.

Some good info their TBT, however it does not mention that streaming of mail is or is not an option.

This will be down to managers discretion I suppose and will vary from office to office up and down the country.

We get the normal "take it where your going" or "spread them over 2 days" you know the kind of un helpfull advice.

As postmen, we are employees of RM, yes ? So managers are also employees of RM. yes ? so why isthere one rule for them and one rule for us?
