can i ask what was stopping royal mail from just cancelling the d2d contracts? and then just rebranding them as live mail, putting them in envelopes addressed to the householder.
then they could of got away without paying any supplements.

It would probably break the regulations, direct mail isnt the same as mail sort etc, all the competitors would complain.

ermmmmmm the cost!!

just what cost would that be number one, royal mail already has the databases of all addresses of which they own, has the network in place and of course the delivery postperson's to deliver them, the only expense would be the filling and cost of the envelopes, i have been to printer's and mailing house's which have machine's which do this job so there would be a investment needed in the 1st place, but then the saving would be around £2 mil a week, and thats not counting the money royal mail would make from these.

the choice is clear, get it in the workload and get paid a supplement or maybe the above and get paid nothing.

going postal i think you will find PROBABLY royal mail are allowed to do this.

Little or no chance of a yes vote from our office

will not matter, the way it has been designed you just have to do the maths, there are 25000 delivery posties who will be better off with this supplement, just that alone will divide the deliveries vote, and then you have all the other fuctions which are not affected by the d2d issue.

i reckon a 68% yes vote

The question should be are you scared of working your hours when you don't know exactly how long your delivery span will be?
