The agreement in itself is quite ambitious in that it all works on the basis of "trust". Call rates and "tweaking",managable workloads, reviewing duties and reps getting trained for Pegasus.6 step processes.
I my self never took industrial action for pay to be honest.I will work my 8 hours.Regardless. It is the quiet people that suffered/suffer.Bullied into completing, working for nothing on heavy days because they are scared.
I think people rush,(some anyway),to not have the aggro off management.Last year was awfull. You just didn,t want to come into work.It wasn't too bad once you were out delivering. It was the frontline management that were making our lives crap. I haven't got a problem with the new deal to be honest because if I can't complete....I can't complete. It is those viscious b******s who will be waiting for me.That is the problem.
Our reps waited for the last postperson in our place just to support them in case...it was that bad!
This deal does mean radical change. It is demonstrating to the goverment that we have modernised(pension issue). How about the business itself demonstrating "change"? Do you honestly think that line managers decided themselves to bully? No chance! They were instructed every day in "cluster" meetings to..."Ask The Question". This was a common phrase used in London to line managers from the cluster manager. He in turn was instructed by the DSM.
This deal NEEDS to demand from the people who run the service to use line managers as a "saving" too. We don't need them. 2 Lead post persons per office with a DOM and an assistant DOM.They need to work closely with the rep at all times, should any issues arise.A rep can talk to you a lot better then those twats!
Long term sick/Accidents/Issueing of 1st/2nd stages are all bonus related. If the business is skint why the bonuses?

Probably exactly the same as now, pressure, questioning capability etc. The only difference is that the Union will be singing from the same hymn sheet but hopefully not in the same keyass asin wrote:what happens when they decide you are not in the top 10%?I haven't got a problem with the new deal to be honest because if I can't complete....I can't complete
If we can get agreed standards and methods of measurement that take into account various individual circumstances and capabilities then I won't have a problem with them if they are applied consistently fairly and with compassion. However, if as I suspect they will be Cast Iron, inflexible and ignorant of local issues then I foresee with certainty a return to the bad old days.

I have asked this question now on about half a dozen different threads, but still no official CWU reply -
First of all, both Indoor & Outdoor measurement tools need to be the same throughout the UK - PERIOD
If D2D are to be included in measured workload as is claimed by the Agreement, if a D.O is found to
require an increase in AWD as apposed to a decrease
1 - Does the agreement cover hours going back in?
2 - Does that mean a unit that is in the performing top 10% will not be tasked with any savings this year?
3 - Alot of talk about measuring systems - what systems have been agreed to?
THANKS - AWAITING ANSWERS

That is what will happen, those standards are in development.

Work Measurement/Standards and Revision Tools
Planning for operational change in delivery units will be done using national planning and measurement systems, and revision tools to ensure that workload is assessed and applied accurately, is fair and manageable, and indoor processes and outdoor delivery routes are optimised, efficient and achievable – recognising any specific local issues that may need to be considered.
To ensure that any assumptions, parameters and inputs are consistent with the paragraph above – a series of structured workshops will be held with the CWU within 4 weeks of signing this agreement. The workshops will include appropriate scenario modelling and data validation, which will include testing areas of concern against a live environment to help clarify any specific issues that may need further investigation or understanding.
The aim of the workshops will be to provide confidence in and understanding of the planning and measurement systems and revision tools in use.
Key areas that will be covered as part of the workshops will include:
Traffic recording
Indoor workload tool (and associated issues)
Pegasus and Georoute (and associated issues e.g. call rate)
D2D ( and associated issues e.g. call rate)
Ongoing maintenance and future developments of planning and measurement systems, and revision tools will involve the CWU through national consultation that will provide the opportunity for genuine input in advance of rollout – utilising workshops and meetings at the request of either party.

IN DEVELOPMENT??? IN DEVELOPMENT????
WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN? ARE WE SUPPOSED TO VOTE FOR THAT THEN? BLOODY WORKSHOPS???
RM WILL COME OUT OF THEM AND DO WHAT THE HELL THEY WANT BECAUSE NOTHING IN THIS AGREEMENT WILL STOP THEM FROM DOING JUST THAT.
IT GIVES THEM CARTE BLANCHE.
'Opportunity for genuine input'?????????? WTF does that mean in the real world? Tell us, PLEASE.

Look where the bullying and harassment got them. It saved them a few quid in the short term but caused unrest and strikes and now RM will be fined a fortune for quality of service.
Everyone has to see that we all have to work together or we will all lose, its that simple.!

they were bully boys before this agreement and will be bully boys after this agreement nothing will change!
the bullying culture that exists within royal mail management should have been tackled in this agreement, but why has it been ignored? it wont just go away infact it will probably get worse.

Re: The Only Way This Agreement Could Work
Too many people here are prepared to put their trust in the IF, IN DEVELOPMENT, IT WILL MEAN, WHEN, THERE MAYBE - listen don't be bamboozled by the MAYBE brigade:
The words in this agreement are the words. Too much emphasis was placed on honourable dealings in 2007 and quite clearly both sides were NOT singing from the same hymn sheet then but THIS time they are and it is to save their little niche in the workplace and the devil taken the hindmost.
