Is their a scientific view on........

Post by ashadd »

We all know that an eighteen year old postie is a lot fitter , well more times than most, than a fiftyish postie. I know that, you know that, BUT do royal mail know that? There must be proof somewhere , and if so, shouldnt RM pay heed to it? , in regards to the length of walk.
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

I think there is something in th agreement where all posties should be able to attain the level of the top 10%.

I'm not quite sure what it meant a it was a bit vague but it doesn't sound too good.

It appears not when walks are planned as everyone has to show the same fittness level.

I thought the bit about everyone to the performance of the top 10 was offices rather than people?

My understanding was that there'd be some kind of league table leading to "Toytown DO is top of the league and is achieving twice as many items per work hour as you - in order to match their performance you now need to save 50% of your hours"

I read this as being a bit nightmare-ish on it's own - if it's going to be more like "Billy Whizz over there does your walk in 2.5hrs so here's another hour for you to do" or "your 17 year old day off cover doesn't book overtime so nor can you" then it's even more worrying!

Lot's of teenagers only fit for 1 thing, COMPUTERS! Ok, they're younger, but make more cockups due to a lack of experience, but don't get the bollockings "coz the're new..."

We got one who drives like a nutter, no seat belt, with his phone in one hand all day. When we had heavy Xmas mail to seg, took most of his time talking to his mates!

Think it's possible to be fit over 50, but it takes a bit more effort. One of the best athletes ever is a guy called Ned Overend. He's kicking arse in Triathlons and Xterra events, leaving much younger competitors for dead. He just trains/works a bitter more "smarter", not harder.

Same for us, as I'm over-half-way-to-100, and have had to adapt, train "smarter" and use my noggin instead of youth.

"Youth is wasted on the young."
