Dear Union
these strikes were not about money they were about working conditions, bullying managers and workloads, this new wonder deal you are trying to bum up has not solved any of the issuses we went on strike for instead this deal only makes things worse ie heavier workloads, potentially longer delivery spans and lower wages. One has to ask why do you not listen to the membership are you that out of touch you do not know the real reason for the unrest within the membership or are your heads so far up neu Liebour arses you don't give a damn for the guys and gals that pay your wages.
you say it is a good deal, yet one thing about 2007 taught me royal mail management are not to be trusted and they love to shift the goal posts when it suits their agenda, keep that in mind when you get back in bed with royal mail management
and if the deal is so good then why don't the leadership try it for a couple of weeks

That would be any official on full-time release, worst nightmare, having to partake in the shambolic mess they have made of our jobs.

Re: Dear Union
sometimes i really wonder what is really going on in divisonal and national headquarters of the CWU, because one thing i can guarantee it is not communication with the membership, they tell us nothing and they don't listen to us, if this union wants to survive then the leadership MUST LEARN TO LISTEN TO THE RANK & FILEDirtyHarry wrote:Godric wrote:these strikes were not about money they were about working conditions, bullying managers and workloads, this new wonder deal you are trying to bum up has not solved any of the issuses we went on strike for instead this deal only makes things worse ie heavier workloads, potentially longer delivery spans and lower wages. Re: Dear Union
Aye, shiftin' the goalposts is a fine art. Management have perfected it to such an extent they even deny point
blank they have done so. Wonder if they go on courses where they are taught to say one thing and mean another without batting an eyelid? Of course as I understand they can screw us royaly while they take home rather lucrative bonuses. God help us all if someone goes off sick
Manager bonus is in danger, work harder cover duties for * all. Sorry rambling a bit now. But it is Saturday evening, having a beer before I fall asleep. As one post said, next day Sunday and aw s**t!! Monday again.
The vote? I will probably vote yes. Looked at it, don't like it much but as said bye someone else again, I wonder what RM really
wanted
union ought to come clean on that so we know exactly where we stand and stood.
DTD surely there has to be a cap on that? Unlimited is just ridiculous.
I understand the fears we have, remember I am a delivery postie, but was the strike not about job security and getting some sort of financial deal out of what I see as greedy self satisfied management. Well we seem to have got some of that.
We cannot sweep out the hierarchy we have. All we can do is get the best out of them we can. I feel at this point that is just what we have done.
Again I need to go back to dishonest management.Or maybe not so much dishonest but a wee bit cautious with the facts.
What we need is for management, not union, to give us in writing.black and white what is expected of each individual or at least every walk. Then we can talk to the union and see how we stand on a day to day basis. We can accept this deal but there has to bea more open and honest view to how it affects each office and individule.
Ok I have rambled long enough. You can probaby guess I am not altogether happy with the deal. But I feel we need to trust "our leaders" to do the right thing bye us.
If not F**** em. We will find out soon enough.

I will not be called an idiot for my views. People like you screw it up for moderate thinkers. Go back to your commie past and pals and let free thinking people air their views.

Re: Dear Union
Yes it is free thinking. Do you think it's not because I don't agree with you? No it is not a great deal. But what else can we get? Job security is what we were looking for and i seems to be what we got. Local agreement is not quite what I meant, though I feel RM will go down the road of telling you one thing locally and doing another but I am sure we are all used to that.
Ach! Sunday morning 5am I am back off to ma kip. Not going to think about this agreement anymore unless someone can come up with something better. Keep reading about how bad it is but don't see any suggestions on how to improve on it. So a bit of constructive advice to our "superiors"? might go down well here.
Your all good people wanting the best for yourselves and your family, as I do. But in my opinion we need to bite the bullet and agree to this,at least in the meantime. I for one cannot afford more strikes, and anyway we need the public on our side. If the union and acas think this is the best we can get. So be it, though I still think there needs to be a cap on DTD.

Re: Dear Union
Point taken, mate, and by many, except where it matters, Wimbledon. If it proves we have more seriously hard-up postal workers than we already fear we do, and this deal gets in, I'll give it a while to see what, if anything, our rep can salvage from this absolutely shyte deal for delivery staff. If it proves to be not much at all, I'll be jacking the CWU in, no ifs, no buts, it's that simple.Godric wrote:

I can see how you and your kind have stopped people from saying it, but how do you stop people from thinking it, a problem you will never get around, I'm pleased to say.

we have a tory in our midst ... not a commie myself ... but i believe in standing up for myself and my fellow colleagues rights to a fair deal where we are not shat upon by royal mail management and our union leadership who are funnily enough meant to have our best interests at heart (go figure) and if that makes me a commie in your eyes then that tells me what a shallow individual you are ... it is your choice to vote yes for the deal just as it is my right to vote no ... but do not label me a commiepostiemcg wrote:I will not be called an idiot for my views. The majority of those who vote yes will do so out of fear.
Fear of the unknown, fear of more strikes, fear of executive action.
I have yet to read a reasoned argument for voting yes that didn't positively reek of fear.
Either grow a pair or simply post "I'm scared....i'm voting yes!"
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Dear Union
A nationalist in fact, and I did not know I had labeled you a commie. It is just a figure of speech and even if you were I could not care less. And if I did happen to be a torie what would that have to do with you? Also if you had read the insulting post aimed at me you might well understand my anger.
My views are obviously not welcome here. Cannot write how I feel or view my thoughts without ridicule. When I found this site I thought GREAT a place where the working postman can air their thoughts and come together and let each other know the good and bad of the job. I was wrong, so I shall not be back. At least not untill this mess has been sorted out one way or another. And yes, I will vote yes, because I cannot see any other route to go down. It is all very well whingeing about it all but what else can we get? In listen to you and understand the gripes specially about the DTD
Maybe in the meantime if someone comes up with a better deal I may change my mind, but constanty complaining about it does not help. Yes I do my 8 hours a day, Sat. too, but at the end of the day thats the job I am in and have been for many years and yes we always want the best deal, unfortunately this time I think this is it. If the company goes down we go with it. Look forward to my union letters.
