I noticed in the letter from the union
It stated:
Full time staff will not be forced to part time hours and part time staff will not be forced to full time hours
So what if you genuinely want a full time position? Has our beloved union proposed any details on how to get the 75 / 25 % balance that they are "striving for?"
Given that the majority of part timers will now have an increased workload ratio to their hours (even more so than full timers in my own personal circumstances) have their been any discussions in any way to ensure that part timers are effectively recognised by the actual hours they contribute as opposed to what their contract states??
i.e 25 hour contract. Postie is happy to work any extra time as and when required as he needs the money. Postie averages a working week of 32 hours. Postie goes on annual leave. Postie is shafted.
I hate the d2d issue, but I will continue to do the job properly and if I do go over my time - so be it. I will be expecting to be paid for all hours I have worked. I just don't see why part timers should continue to be managements "beeatches" just to suit the needs of the business.
Contribution and commitment deserves recognition - WHERE ARE YOU ON THIS BILLY AND DAVE?? PART TIMERS WILL NOT BE SCAPEGOATS IN THIS AGREEMENT!!!
Full time staff will not be forced to part time hours and part time staff will not be forced to full time hours

You should perhaps be thankful that part timers will get full votes on the deal, not a fraction of a vote each proportionate to their hours or union subscription.postghost wrote:It stated:

Re: I noticed in the letter from the union
Now that is something that never occurred to me - RM should pay holiday pay that reflects (for example) an average of the previous 12 weeks pay to acknowledge the support the part timer gives over and above their contract hours.i.e 25 hour contract. Postie is happy to work any extra time as and when required as he needs the money. Postie averages a working week of 32 hours. Postie goes on annual leave. Postie is shafted.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

No, of course they won't do that, it would cost them more money, meaning less for Croziers bonus.rhino49 wrote:Now that is something that never occurred to me - RM should pay holiday pay that reflects (for example) an average of the previous 12 weeks pay to acknowledge the support the part timer gives over and above their contract hours.i.e 25 hour contract. I know what it can be like for part timers. That's why at the earliest opportunity I applied for a full time walk nobody else wanted - and I've never looked back.wee jock wrote:i am full time but i really feel for part timers .when they come in to office its all supposed to be done for them ,but its not . managers expect them to get on with it and complete delevery , all this s**t for 22half hours a week, its no wonder they leave as soon as they can . wake up royal mail look after your people full and part time . you need us as much as we need you

Part timers. I am afraid the name suits the post. As a full timer of over 20 years I am pissed off at the part timer thinking they should have the same rights as us. Why? We do the full time work. Sorting .delivering. Part timers are just that. Part time. Why all the uproar about PT workers, they knew the deal when they signed on. Why now do they want the same deal as us FULL TIMERS? Come in go out easy day Nah! Could not give a you know what. Our part timer even gets holiday's you could not believe.. No I could not give a sh*** about part timers they have got it good. OH! the DTD we are expected to sort it all up for them gimme peace! And tell them to stop complaining.Full timers do 77% of the work for them anyway.

Re: I noticed in the letter from the union
And what about 25 hr part timer works longs and shorts. Has to claim an hours overtime every wed, thurs and fri for just working his normal 6 hr long. What happens when his day off is a wed, thurs or fri? He gets 5 hrs pay, not 6. Shafted.postghost wrote: i.e 25 hour contract. Re: I noticed in the letter from the union
lets face it ,FT or PT it makes no odds, the majority of RM staff are thick as s**t. They either don't vote ,or vote for deals that make them worse off. Some might say they were duped into a yes vote ,but if you are stupid enough to vote away your terms on somebody else's say so then you get what you are worth. There should be a law about exploiting the feeble minded

Re: I noticed in the letter from the union
The part timers DO get shafted! I'm fulltime and I know all of us get shafted but part times even more so. We have a part timer who is a right little grafter, will they offer him full time, will they balls!! He's earnt over £23k this year with overtime he has done but come holidays and pro rata agreements he becomes worse off. When he takes a holidays he gets 25hrs pay!
