3 p.m Finish On Saturdays How, As The Sums Don't Add Up
Just a thought here
..... The only mail which R.M hold back or Stream is Mail Sort, they treat all DSA mail as 1st class..... Today out of 4 bags @ .aprox 16kg each i was allowed to leave my M.S. it accounted for 25 items out of god knows how many total items..... So as they will not hold DSA mail back from wed, thur, fri for sat delivery where are they going to get the extra mail from to keep us occupied until 3 p.m, as my finishing time today was 11.35a.m, okay as i was about 25 mins over this only still took me to 12.00 my 25 items of M.S wouldn't take an extra 3 hours to deliver and not even R.M would dare to make us take the bulk of our D2d on a Sat
..... Also if they chose to some how make us work till 3 p.m, starting at the rumoured later time of 7 a.m ( to facilitate sequencing machines ) that's 10 hours out of 39 leaving 29 hours to be divided by the other 4 days of which in our office wed, thur, and fri are much busier, it would only leave an average of 7 and 1/2 hours for each of the other 4 day's..... So opperationally how can they make us work till 3 p.m on Sat other than out of spite as it would not leave enough time for the bussier days in the week..... Also correct me if i am wrong but somewhere in that wonderfull 90+ page document our union kindly negotiated on our behalf
, it states somewhere ( sure i read it but can't bl..dy find it now ) that last letter will be no later than 1 hour from which it is now which takes me to 12.35 p.m, don't know but nought adds up to me re late Saturdays

Your sums don't add up. 7am to 3pm Sat is 8 hrs, leaves you 31 hrs, 8 hrs for Wed, Thu, Fri and 7 hrs for your apparently easier Tuesday.

Under the new agreement if D2D can be targeted for a specific day then, theoretically 100% of D2D may need to be delivered on SAT if that isCheetah wrote:Just a thought here..... the day the customer chooses.
What time do you currently start on a Saturday & what time does your unit open? ours opens at 5, F/T finishes bout 1, new arrival last
batch under W/S means 7am start, retarding finish times by 2 hrs, also if you are having W/S how far are you from your M.C?

Re: 3 p.m Finish On Saturdays How, As The Sums Don't Add Up
Mailsort3 is gradually going to DSA. Not sure about you,but most Saturdays have roughly,(on average) the same traffic as Wednesdays. We just work faster. Also the D2D wil be part of the daily traffic figures so this needs to be(accuratly) inputed in the system by your rep. If your walk has stairs and hills it may be put a shorter span than the walk next to you(2 mph or less),(which might have no stairs/hills). This other walk will have a longer span but, again,a high call rate. The business plan remember has to be part of the agreement.
If your walk needs mail replenishment then this will be built IN the sytem as part of your span. All training for Pegasus will be done for your rep.

if the deal is 1 Saturday in 4.
Maybe we will have Sat then mon-sat off in total for people who do wallington walk. Giving us total 9 days off.
Not sure if this is the plans or not.

No, the deal mentions the possibilities for most staff to have 1 Saturday off in 4 - so don't count on it, everything will be agreed locally so plenty of offices will be working 5 out of 6 Saturdays still, with some cover men barely getting half a dozen off a year.Carew wrote:if the deal is 1 Saturday in 4.

Yes i think you will be right, ah the beauty of local agreements, that is why there is no clarification on how thisOnAFlyer wrote:No, the deal mentions the possibilities for most staff to have 1 Saturday off in 4 - so don't count on it, everything will be agreed locally so plenty of offices will be working 5 out of 6 Saturdays still, with some cover men barely getting half a dozen off a year.Carew wrote:if the deal is 1 Saturday in 4.

Local agreements differ from office to office. Some are already doing 8 hour saturdays because it suits them. Some prefer 4 day week because it suits them

NO your last letter won't be 3:30,more like 2:30,it's on here somewhere.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:We do 8hr sats , already have - 530 till 130, clear everything - simples
reason was we used to leave mailsort and get done early satdi, then everyone would book or leave on the Monday coz of the mailsort they left in.
Theyre talking at our place now about a 4 day week to enable us to do longer saturdays - all hard work to sort though - gota vote on it and s**t![]()
If we did that would we then work 5:30 till 3:30 on Saturdays ?? Feck that
Don't forget you'll add 15mins coming back,+pouch off,+part of your meal relief.....................on paper that is.

Re: 3 p.m Finish On Saturdays How, As The Sums Don't Add Up
We have a 14.45 pm finish time on a Saturday and it is rare for the regular F/T and P/T posties to be working anywhere near to that time, inclusive of meal breaks.

Makes a mockery of being given an extra hour a week off..how when they want us to work longer saturdays.
