Re: management
All senior managers Regional Directors , DSMs and Mail centre Managers ( every senior manager who counted. ) A dickie bird tell me that Higson , Tolhurst and Cameron told all the managers that this new agreement heralded a new relationship with the union and they had to abide by it and to end old adversory relationship. Of course words are just words. However a couple of managers who have been around a number of years did say that they have never been to a senior managements meeting and been given this direction by the head of bussiness.
Of course most of us will still be highly suspicious as we always are and will judge by action rather than words. But Higson did state that the words in the agreement had to be adhered to and not managments local of regional interperations as it will be overseen by ACAS and Roger Poole which is unlike any other national agreement.

Well we'll wait and see if their actions match their words.

Re: management
My experience of pay n mod was that directions management wise came from on high and there was no real local agreement.
RM local management ignored the Interim Agreement and I have no doubt what so ever that they will ignore the parts of this proposed agreement that benefit members eg more Sats off.
This is the weakest part of the leadership case - RM managers have not changed. They are strutting around waving budget savings in our face as we speak.

Re: management
If thats the case, why didn't the CWU get more national agreements, it's the local stuff that is hard to get and keep, I know from experience in my office, it's a nightmare, the only time we can garantee anything is when its a national agreementdingo wrote:All senior managers Regional Directors , DSMs and Mail centre Managers ( every senior manager who counted. ) A dickie bird tell me that Higson , Tolhurst and Cameron told all the managers that this new agreement heralded a new relationship with the union and they had to abide by it and to end old adversory relationship. please take a holiday your clearly losing all sense of reality- none of the above will be held to account for jack s**t with this agreement, your gonna judge them by their actions not their words?,well what happens if you dont like their actions?tie them up and take them to a workshop or even better bring us out on strike?-the way things are going we wont have many members left, spent an hour today trying to persuade 3 people not to stop their subs and if the agreement goes ahead then its a mass exodus round my way.

Re: management
dingo, the problem is so many were burned with P&M,their questions to HQ would be,why would this be any different.
Words mean nothing,we had the words in 07,the words are still there but are ignore up and down the country.
Agreements on paper mean nothing to many in management. This is the big worry.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: management
Got told by cover DOM this morning that all DOM'S in my area are having a meeting on Wednesday about the New Agreement. Should make Thursday an interesting day when DOM tries to sell this deal to us.

Re: management
Anybody dare to chat about Royal Mail Managers style of mangaging and an unprecedented number of suspensions and sackings for trivial mistakes-especially at a certain office in Newcastle?

And how will all this square with managers being told they must make savings year on year?

Managers will all be instructed to preach the agreement chapter and verse and simultaneously be ordered to make their 5% year on year savings. Just like now with health and safety ,no private cars, security of mail, bullying ,intimidation, illegal with-holding of wages it will all just be paying lip service to the rules and the never ending drive for increased profit will override it all
