One in 4 Saturdays off

Is this any masterplan to allow everybody to have one in 4 Sats off or are they suggesting that everybody moves onto 10 hour days.

Not sure about a masterplan, i thought the obvious question is how will these work
unless these are funded (doubtful)- i guess that further absorbtion will be the answer.
Already heavy sat due to DSA, add D2D, i think even longer Saturdays are likely.
I would think long & hard bout pushing the 1 in 4 Saturdays off. So apart from longer del spans anyway
on a sat they would need to be even longer, cant even begin to imagine how rural omv duties would work

week 1 in in off off in in

week 3 off off in in in in

then start back at week one..

this is 1 in 3 off.

absorbtion cant be planned into duties so don't think this will be built in, more like collections, double preps, preping of d2d's, large packets etc etc.

Also if you only work 4 days then you will only deliver about 65% of the d2d's. makes the £20.60 sound a bit better.

It ain't going to happen, we are so short staffed they are begging people to do overtime on Saturdays at my office

Cant Believe its - like the idea, however with walk sequencing in the pipeline, rural duties already doing collections,
Network saying they will not retard dispatch times, cant see out that will work. As F/T are expected to perform double prep at the
introduction of w/s, not sure what extra they can do, after all prepping is one thing, unless the duty is split it still needs delivering.
Having said that if you work in an office with dedicated collections then you do have a bit of scope. Unfortunately our office although a collection hub,
only has m-f duties, collections already absorbed on a sat now.

It'll happen, they call it cross function. Its already happened once this year at my office, MC staff got sent home when it snowed, because we could'nt go out on delivery we were sent into the MC to do their work, so it works both ways

Joking aside, what will a del office do with double prep through walk sequencing, no dedicated sat collections, dels already well over 4 hrs on town &
rural on 5 hour spans. I notice the union have agreed to performance targets, getting everybody to the same level as the top ten percent. So am i to assume that these will be given no savings targets this year or if D2D into measured workload on indoor & outdoor shows the unit requires hours investing at an AWD level (not O/T) then this will happen. Will someone from the union clarify this?

We asked our DOM how this would work, his reply and I quote, " I have'nt got the fainest idea"

So that fill's you with confidence that it's going to happen NOT.

1 in 4 Sat off will be totally up to your DOM. It is to be arranged at a local level. So the answer is - ask your DOM. If he can't tell you he will probablly never implement it as it will be too much of a headach.

This is how it works and it's 1 in 3 Saturdays off BUT if last letter is 2pm or 3 pm how does that square with later starts?
