local redirections

when you get a local redi from somebody else in your office, are you allowed to leave it till the next day? the union at my office and even some line managers said yes you are as technically it has been posted agaion as 1st class and doesnt have to go till the next day, sometimes i take it and sometimes i leave it but today 1 lineo had a go at me and said they have to go. Whats the official word on this? I just want to prove him wrong

Officially its the next day,your lino dont know his arse from his elbow,he'l be telling you you have to prep your D2Ds in your own time next

I don't have anything to quote from, but I always believed that local to local were due same day - signs all over our place saying this and not allowed out until everyone's done redis to make sure the locals connect?

yes managers try to get you to take them by putting up stupid signs, but im sure OFFICALLY you dont have to do them till the next day

so im guessing nobody knows for sure, it doesnt bother me taking them im just wondering because im almost sure they dont have to go out till the next day

Its the next day! This was a bone of contention at our place a few years ago as the lino's were doing the "they have to go today"bit,when they have the office going out at different times.So some were getting local redi's put on their bench after they'd gone out on delivery by the posties doing the job properly and having their meal relief.
One of our senior guys new the lino's were lying so every WTL session he would ask them to look into the official ruling.Eventually we were all told its the next day.
Your lino's may keep telling you they have to go the same day,but if you dont take them there's f**k all they can officially do about it.
After all that I take mine any way as I'm one of the last out the office and it does'nt bother me.

We don't really do any work. It seems crap to charge people for nothing. Surely it would be good PR?

It subsidises the ones where we do have a lot to do, and those that get skip fulls of mail. We probably make a loss on those ones.

Just on the subject of re-directions can anyone beat this?.... On an old walk of mine i had a re-direction for a family that had emigrated to Australia, the thing is they were still recieving letters from the Australian immigration board and prospective australian employers etc... which i was then re-directing all the way back to Oz!
