D2D again - pro rata etc
evening,
I'll confess and confirm I'm being lazy but could somebody please point me in the direction of exactly where within the 'agreement' it states that D2D are to be paid pro rata for part timers?
reason for asking is I had an interesting conversation with the union rep this morning where I mentioned it was pro rata, and they said I was talking rubbish, argument from them being 'but they can't be pro rata for part timers, we all do the same amount as full timers, it just isn't fair, it doesn't say that, it just can't be'
so before I go and suggest said rep needs to re read the 'agreement', I'd like to be able to be polite and point them to the correct section.
Thank you in advance

From the agreement page 21:
"To coincide with the introduction of the national agreement unit payments will cease and the 3 items per week cap will be removed. D2D Monies will be turned into a delivery supplement paid 52 weeks a year for all delivery employees (OPG and ORR) pro rata for part time employees."

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
why thank you ripio and TrueBlueTerrier
now, any useful advice on how I can politely use this information to my advantage and make this rep understand it's in black and white?
I agree with them, it's not fair, but, since when have these things been about fairness really?

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
The way I see it, is that D2D payments have been scrapped for ALL delivery staff.
And has been replaced with a delivery suppliment, all delivery duties are supposed to be equal. So if all deliveries are equal and its a delivery suppliment then the payment should not be pro rata.
The payment is not for prepping D2D items nor for the delivery of D2D items, but for the delivery of all mail in the frame, so again the payment should not be pro-rata.

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
Now D2D is going to be a 52 week product and day specific.
I can just imagine next year, Christmas Eve, hammered with cards, Christmas packets and 2 lots of D2D every house.
Merry Christmas from Royal Mail.
NO THANKS!!!!
As Paddy McGuinness would say-
"no likey- no lighty"

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
Your payment for the sorting and delivery of letters is pro-rata. 30 hours sorting and delivery of letters pulls 30 hours X hourly pay. 40 hours sorting and delivery of letters pulls 40 hours times the hourly rate. That is pro-rata.djchrisc wrote:The way I see it, is that D2D payments have been scrapped for ALL delivery staff.

They are saying why should D2D be any different? They are saying, it is not the amount of D2D you prep or deliver, it is the amount of hours you work for the company.
Just playing devils advocate here, don't shoot me down....

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
The supplement payment in respect to D2D is pro-rata for part-timers for reasons previously stated. The supplementary payment is also linked to future pay rises. With any future pay increase the supplement also increases.

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
Maybe that is one way of looking at it and maybe that is how it is meant to be perceived, but it still results in part-timers effectively suffering a larger pay cut than full-timers, does it not?

It's 'clever'. It's immoral. It's sneaky beyond belief. It's Royal Mail.banner18 wrote:Your payment for the sorting and delivery of letters is pro-rata. 30 hours sorting and delivery of letters pulls 30 hours X hourly pay. 40 hours sorting and delivery of letters pulls 40 hours times the hourly rate. Again if its a delivery suppliment then in my office as a part-timer I already do 20mins lasped delivery and then my full 3hr 50min delivery, total 4hrs 10mins. 20 minutes more than a full timer so what would my pro-rata amount be. My fame is supposed to be fully prepped and ready to tie down at my start time, but never is. On a saturday I am expected to split 2 trays of buddy mail, ips, prep a full frame and do a 3hr 50min delivery all in a 6hr shift. So again would my pro- rata rate be higher on the saturday than during the week.
No matter what way you spin it, sugar coat it or look at it, it still adds up to a massive drop in pay, £10 for 52 weeks is still less than 42 weeks of 3 D2D. 52 weeks of 100% call rates, "uncapped" D2D. Umcapped not even a reasonable number involved UNCAPPED, if this goes ahead you will get one or two in the first few weeks then mid summer BOOM 10 D2D items and a saturday specific D2D.

Re: D2D again - pro rata etc
All the competitors pay per leaflet delivered, next time you see someone on your walk delivering leaflets just ask them. If this agreement gets accepted then RM will be in a perfect position to undercut them all, meaning a huge increase in D2D items most likely. Pro-rata payments will increase their profits even more.
