VR/EVR Questions.

What is the situation with VR/EVR?
Will it be available to anyone or only those selected by RM?
Can we just apply for it through the DOM?
How long will it take to come through?
Any help/advice would be welcome.

What is the situation with VR/EVR?

Everybody would love to get VR/EVR provided the terms were good. Problem is, there'd never be enough on offer.

The last VR we had in our office, anyone could apply for and all who wanted it got it. Once you put in for it, it takes 2 weeks to get an official offer [which you do not have to accept]. If you take the deal, the money is paid after 12 weeks. You can work these 12 weeks or come to some arrangement with your DOM to leave earlier, but the money will only be paid AFTER 12 weeks whether you work these weeks or not.

As for the amount well it looks better the less time you have been with RM. There is a minimum that they offer which works out around £10k. Add to the the phantom share money of around £1k and retraining money of up to £1500 if you put in for it.

From what I understand this is whats still on offer as long as they still want to get rid of people at your office. This I find puzzling, as in my office at least we are now so short staffed no one can take thier holidays

Oh it is done on seniority first, but like I said everyone in my office [about 23 people I think] got it

If there are any vacancies or vacant dutys within your office you will not get offered any VR's
they are not going to offer VR's as they dont want to pay out extra money

Basically if you come up with some kind of retraining course eg computing, HGV licence etc then they will give you up to £1500 towards it. At least that's what I have been told by those who took the VR... I only went as far as seeing what was on offer and never got to the extras

I may be misreading the MTSF agreement 09, but it seems to me that the first people to be offered VR, will be 55 and overs.
I always thought seniority was the main criteria, but it does seem that over 55s will be first, until after October 1st 2010,
and then it will be seniority.
I hope I am wrong.
Can anyone correct me.

VR opportunities will be available in May.
Has anyone else heard anything.

That was always the criteria , but due to the age discrimination laws that will change in October and then will be purely senioity to concide with Royal Mail`s change to the retirement age of 60 to 65.

in our do old timer refused vr on grounds our do couldnt afford it
we are already 53% 47% ft/pt
question if they cant afford vr with those % figs where has all savings bonuses gone
we didnt achieve bonuses under p+m agreemt but mgmt did
now they cant afford to pay off those who want to leave
