Shift allowance

Is the 2am to 4am allowance included in this, or was it just the 4.01 to 5 am and the 5.01 to 5.30am allowances?

Early shift allowances in delivery retained as grandfather rights (for those in receipt since April 2007), including those in receipt of equivalent MTSF payments for changes made since May 2005. We will agree how this money, and equivalent MTSF payments for early shifts, may be used going forward as part of the pay restructuring process in Joint Working Group 2 – if no satisfactory solution is found then grandfather rights will be retained. The early shift payment is ceased in delivery on agreement to pay restructuring.

Given the challenges the business is facing, the current Door to Door payment arrangements do not support the need to drive growth in this market and we have undertaken a fundamental review of this area. We have also reviewed arrangements for early shift payments in delivery. It has been agreed to cease and incorporate the total value of these payments (£52m Door to Door, and £40m delivery early shift allowance and grandfather rights) into a new permanent (non-pensionable) supplement to basic pay. This is payable to all delivery office employees directly tagged to and working in the delivery function. The supplement will increase in value as agreed in basic pay rises. It will flow through in 2011 and 2012. It will be paid 52 weeks a year at the rate of £20.60 per week, pro rata for part time employees and applies to new entrants.
Individuals in receipt of pensionable allowances incorporated into this payment will retain full pensionability of those elements on a reserved rights basis.

the 20.60 is to replace the current d2d payments only. all other allowances are retained. I asked this question today at wtl and this is what i was told

It is not all allowances, I have read the agreement thoroughly.

Don't know if their "early shift allowance" is only the 5:00am payment or if it will include 4:00am?

Please also note the new supplement is non-pensionable whereas the current 5:00am early shift payment is pensionable.

i think night shift allowances retained under MTSF are safe, because these are awarded for duties which were lost. whereas early shift allowances have been removed because these duties now or will start later.i hope so anyway

the 2am-4am is (under the EU work time directive - night-shift payment)

the 2010 deal mentions only early shift payments. and you get it if you're A/L + S/L !
