Re: is the £8 on top of the 2%? and how can it be made permanent
ha - i'm not sure myself...that's why i am asking a question!
what is your interpretation of the £8 pw pay rise for MC staff. is the £8 in addition to the 2% ?
in the agreement it says
"-Through pay simplification we have consolidated existing monies and created new additional and permanent (non pensionable) basic pay supplements, which will rise in value in future pay rises and be paid 52 weeks per year. This will ensure the Union continues to prioritise higher guaranteed pay"
is this referring to the £8 ?
at out WTLL session, RM said the £8 "could be made part of the basic pay"
(or at least i think that's what they were referring to along with the £20 for delivery staff?)
any clearer?
didn't thinks so

Does this help!
Basically the supplement is the same as delivery staffs £20.60, therefore it is in addition to the 2% pay rise.Mail Centres, Collection Hubs and MDECs
A new (non pensionable) supplement to basic pay to all OPGs/OSGs in Mail Centres, OPGs/OSGs in Collection Hubs (who are not eligible to receive the Delivery Pay supplement) and Royal Mail CWU grades in MDECs pro rata for part-time employees. The supplement will increase in value as agreed in basic pay rises. It will flow through in 2011 and 2012. It will be paid 52 weeks a year at the rate of £8.00 per week and applies to new entrants. It replaces the first £8.00 of any PBS/ICS residual bonus payment in the Unit. In Units where the PBS/ICS payment is greater than £8.00, the amount over £8.00 will still be paid to existing recipients. Where the existing PBS/ICS payment is less than £8.00, the shortfall is funded on an ongoing basis by using the pool of money created by the former ESOS productivity scheme. The employees eligible for this pay supplement will also receive a one-off non-pensionable lump sum payment of £75 (pro rata for part-time employees) along with the first payment of the new supplement.
The above approach uses up the pool of money created by the former ESOS productivity scheme. Hence the ESOS scheme will cease to exist and will not accrue any future money.

The £8.00 for MC staff is a bribe to try and swing the deal and get the agreement passed, as they wont be expected to deliver d2ds like the rest of us on delivery.

There's something in there that says Mailcentre workers who currently get more than £8 PBS/ICS money will have that money over £8 protected, from my understanding of that, no Mailcentre workers will lose any money.
If they can do that for Mailcentre workers why can't they do it for delivery staff who stand to lose hundreds of pounds a year over D2D money?

I don't think that is what it means. It is not new or additional money.
From my reading of that it seems to say that the first £8 of the pensionable PBS supplement which is paid
in some MCs will be replaced by a non-pensionable supplement of £8, effectively reducing pensions (again).
And they will get a non pensionable lump sum of £75 as compensation.
For someone who would be getting a full pension, this would mean they will lose £208(POSS) - £312(POPS)
a year from their pension for the rest of their life for a payment of £75.

ok guys, thanks for shedding some more light on the subject.
as i've said on other posts - i will be voting YES for job security.
the people who want EVR will get it, so the people wh want to stay - can stay and not be forced to go LTFT.
what good is a pay rise then getting made redundant!?
i'll be accepting it.

Spot on its a ploy to get mail staff as there alot of them to vote the agreement in as your getting 8 quid for nothing so most will see that as a great incentive where as us in delivery will get absolutely shafted. The way i see it is if you do the work you should be paid for it accordingly,ie 800 drops, 1.67 each drop. 0 drops 0.00p each. Surely know one on here could have a problem with that eh?
Also is it just our office all does others on here notice how bigger the D2D's have become lately?? we have ones for next week at nearly 3p each, they are like minature magazines
VOTE NO!!!
