Just been reading throught the 'not the real agreement-agreement' It says RM and CWU are committed to 1 in 4 Saturdays off for everyone who wants them. Can someone tell me how we are going to achieve that as I have been told by my rep that 10 hour days are on there way out too.

well 10 hour days are the only thing i can see that will enable people to have an average of 1 in 4 saturdays off if we are working a 4 day week. Will it happen that we get 1 in 4 saturdays off, i highly doubt it. I expect royal mail will do the same as 2007 and only pick the bits of the agreement they want to keep and enforce it.

I am much more worried about the 3 in 4 saturdays on than the 1 off.

One in four is garbage if we need to work til 3pm.the weeks we are working.no way will this be voted for in my office !!!
Can't see many people voting yes to this anywhere,later saturday and less d2d money.why did this take so long to negotiate ?

why cant we read from rms hymn book of longs and shorts and make it in our favour. i dont mind working extra weds,thurs and/or fridays as long as can finish at noon (latest) saturdays. saturdays were made by god for football......... oh and them who want to spend it with their families

the worrying thing is that this agreement is still so vague.

It doesnt tell us how things will be implemented, just that they are "commited" to it.

I fully agree ,I took this job to work round my family and I 've got a season ticket which I 'm not giving up.
Do those who have sorted this agreement out know they are only stoking up a fire,can't wait for the sh?& to hit the fan.Light the blue touch paper and stand back!!!!

No it actually says

"While the precise number of Saturdays off and the aspirations of employees will vary from unit to unit,both parties BELIEVE we can deliver cost effective and reliable options that will maximise the number of Saturdays off for those who wish them.Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least one in four Saturdays off for the MAJORITY of employees including reserves."

You could drive a bus through that i'm afraid.
