Mailcentres?

Not having seen this new agreement, anybody know if there is anything about mail centres, and the mailcentre closure program?

I'm based in the northwest, so I'm getting screwed this year anyway, and I have heard that RM want to take their asset stripping to the rest of the country's mailcentre network sooner rather than later...

There's also a fleeting mention of "developer interest" which implies that there are already buyers waiting in the wings, which implies that there's a real estate grab in the offing: prime city centre locations for sale at reduced rates. I'm afraid that MCs will be closed, they'll be moved to industrial estates outside town/city centres - just like in NI where we have one based in Mallusk, all one one level in a large out of town site (with room to expand).

I also believe that RM will be putting DOs into the same areas and lots of smaller ones merged into one super DO

They might move a number of DOs into old MC buildings to make them Super DOs, especially if the old MC sites are in the middle of an in-town industrial estate.

Slight improvement in travel money - now over 5 years capped at £20k - still not enough to make the trek up the M6 bareable

CWU have always accepted that RM will close MCs, and the only issue was the way RM dealt with surplus staff.
