Being overweight, are you fit to do your job?

I was thinking back to a topic from a while back regarding people who had put on weight since beginning this job (out on delivery). If you began the job as a healthy, fit individual, healthy BMI and all that pertains to, where do you stand if, for instance, due to unhealthy eating rituals stemming from the job you are no longer to perform your job to the standard RM expect. I know there are no guidelines regarding this but I think we are all in agreement that we were selected for this job due to our relative fitness. If our bodies have significantly changed from our original well toned physiques (not talking personally obviously) who, or what would have to shoulder the responsibility? I would like to qualify that by adding, who of us who have put on weight would get a second look when it came to recruiting now yet here we are.

The job has changed the employer should make allowances for all staff but R/Ms targets are profit at all costs it is impossible to do the job for some now in future it will be impossible for all but the computer can do it says the fat manager who struggles to the coffee machine everyday!.

But royal mails computer says you can do it in the time allowed it takes no account of age fitness or even mail volumes d2d or even the competence of the very managers that plan duties that they themselves cannot do or will not do!.

Regarding weight i lost a stone in the first year i joined RM and have kept it off ever since purely just by doing the job. Plus i eat like a horse

Oddly enough I remember that case well, slightly before this case we had a postman also "let go" on a weight issue - he weighed marginally more and he offered to do an indoor duty but was told he was unsuitable - cut a long story short he left and didn't persue the case despite advice to do so - I still see him from time to time and he has lost some considerable weight.

When I started I was 16 stones, I thought this would be a good job to change my weight and true to form it as, i'm now an healthy 18 stones. Well more knackered than healthy.
