UPDATE ON ROYAL MAIL/CWU NEGOTIATIONS

Given growing speculation surrounding our negotiations with Royal Mail we would ask Branches to convey the following CWU statement to our representatives and members:-

“Following 3 months of talks facilitated by Roger Poole, the Independent Chair and ACAS, the negotiating process between Royal Mail and CWU has now reached its final phase.

Both parties believe significant progress has been made. A document, will this week, be considered by the Postal Executive Committee”.

Further information will be issued in due course.

In my office there is a certain someone leaving in november to go abroad. The managers know about this and he will not be coming back, will he still get the full lump sump, there should be some sort of time worked and stuff to priorotise the lump sum, infact there shouldnt even be a lump sump we have just been done right hard in the rear pipe here.

None of you have seen a single word of the agreement, yet you know exactly what's in it apparently....

If you've got that little faith in the CWU, what's the point paying them to represent you? I stopped after the Way Forward and P&M were complete garbage, but if you're going to carry on then at least give them the benefit of the doubt until you see exactly what's in the agreement.

Is the lump sum flat rate, or will there be any attempt to make it fairer based on how many years one has worked or can expect to work until retirement, i.e. will someone retiring this year get the same lump sum as someone with many years of lower wages and worse conditions to suffer in the future ?
