Been working as a postman for 2 years now. First as a float and now as a reserve. I have no issues being a reserve other than never knowing my day off. But I do find it unfair how reserves are expected to complete a duty in the same time as the regular postie.

Its just not plausible to be able to throw off a walk you have never seen before, with a fitting in a absolute state. Today's fitting was all yellow, no colour coding at all, and the writing was barely legible. Come 9:00 half the office are tied up stood around talking waiting for the all clear. Yet not one of these people are willing to lend you a hand. I just don't get this mentality?
Its not that much better when you get out there....ohhhh wait I have me trusty printed out map my manager gave me all is saved. Ohh wait half the streets are missing.

As a reserve I have done plenty of duties and there seems to be a trend which is the gobbier the postman the easier the duty. So Basically RM ethics are the harder you work the more work you'll yet. The more you moan the more we'll leave you to it, cause its less hassle to get the quite postman in the corner who all ready has to much work on to do it.

Why have so many posties got the well as long as I can get a way 15 mins early F*@k the rest attitude!

My old office was like that, full of walk runners and the folk that finish at 12 and nock and it’s the same folk who use there cars for delivery, its these people that have shafted the good honest decent postie! My office was bad people just tying up walking round with a coffee in their hand sitting on the frames swinging legs telling jokes and the like, while the PT posties were struggling still frowing in. NOT TEAM WORK at all, and they wonder why it’s falling to bits? A lot of dead worm in RM and its staff, a lot.

this morning i got in at 9 and there was already a que right upto the exit doors with fellow posties waiting for there specials.

got to my frame and still plenty there to be prepped...
called the lm over and he grabbed a cpl from the que and they helped me sort the mail out, kill off's, re-directions etc.
were'nt to happy as they were 1st and 2nd in the que

Hahaha I have done a cover duty in Morley! Roughest estate I had the misfortune of delivering to Worked my day off got told I could come in and do my own walk, WRONG shipped me over there. Was not happy! Seemed like a good office though, hard to find!

Yeah same boat as you babycarl, been with RM well over 2 years and the same problem more or less as you and it looks like it is not gonna change, so got a few month left and then it's buy buy Royal fail.
Will be sad to go because it could be such a good job, if it had the right or even half decent managers.

Just work "your time". They can't force you to work overtime.

Well as the saying goes the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The walks are all over the place in my office. Some are tying up at 9 while the same walks, no matter who's on them, will still be throwing work in. Thing is its not because they don't help out and are so self centred the walks are just out of all proportion. My walk is AT LEAST 4 hrs normal traffic and we've got walk testing coming up soon. If they tell me the test was 3.5 hours I'm gonna walk out the office and get them to tell some other f**ker to try delivering it in 3.5.....

The reserves in our office get out of doing the sorting, leave post/parcels behind when its heavy and never do the killoffs. Sounds like you're getting a rough ride. I think you're probably better off being a reserve than a regular in our office

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago asked dom for help he waved me away saying he was too busy..he soon changed his mind when i put my coat on and walking past him told him to get some other f****r to do it..did he panic then, never had help given to me so quick
