They probably can't as judging by the 7k wage I should think the contract is certainly less than 30hours per week. You have to be on this much to claim tax credits. I should know as I'm on 29 hours a week and I tried to claim to no avail.

Blimey 7k is really bad, sorry buddy. You must be able to find something better than RM. Sainsbury's are paying £13.500 (think its nights though)for stacking and packing around my neck of the woods.

Makes you think don't it,one of the part time staff came in today and handed his notice in,he had come back after being on leave and said f**k it i've had it you can poke it,one of the best staff,he said about the money he had taken home this year he said it's not worth the hassel ,6000 this year he had taken and all the bullying from the managers.

No offence mate but to be on such a low wage you must only be on a 20hr contract at the most and be under 21.
The conditions might be s**t but i challenge you to find any job doing the same hours where you'd earn more. If you that fussed about it work somewhere else. Or get an afternoon shift at tesco/asda to supplement your earnings like most of the part time lads at our office do. You knew the pay when you took the job on and if you can't do the job in the time allowed you should be claiming OT or cutting off.

I don't think the problems really money because the current climate is the same for everyone the problem lies with the management, treating everyone like rubbish, just out of kindergarten. The management we're all dumb. Time to fight back!!!!!

the more i think about this i cant continue for very much longer.
no holidays from now until october either. <- that im disgusted by ! for 7k a year i should be getting a friggin month off in summer.

This is a job that i feel i have been taken advantage of in every way possible.
fleeced at every oppurtunity . unpaid overtime - UNPAID AT OTHER OFFICES FOR FUL DAYS WORK
45 minutes to do EVERYTHING in the morning totol stress situation.

and ill never quite understand how sick it is that the managers get a huge bonus for trying to fleece us as much as possible.

well wen i was 13 i done a similar job it was called a paper round .

im sure i was better paid aswell for the hours i done 6.45 - 9 just a quick prep was actually a walk that wasnt bullshit.

2 hour walk = 2 hour walk - exzactly .

Tax Credits - You're havin a laugh, i tried online & by phone and was told that i wasn't entitled to it as i work 24.5hrs, thou if i worked 16 or less or 30 and above i'd be entitled to it... Honestly what a boot in the balls, it's a fcukin DISGRACE that someones workin hours which is between 16-30 hrs aren't entitled to it... As i said fcukin DISGRACE.

You could possibly get children tax credits if you have kids even if your partner works,it obviously depends on how much the household income is and how many kids there are.
Also housing benefit has changed,it does not take into account child benefit now,so if some of you didn't get it before you may be entitled to it now.
