proof of postage

my customer didnt get her parcel so i gave her the proof of postage and now royal mail are sayin they cant do anything without a tracking number?!

what shall i say to her?

What proof of postage did you give her?
Proof of postage is something they give you at the Post Office when you send something (But can't be arsed to pay for Recorded Delivery)

Not quite sure what your talking about .How can you give her proof of postage .This is gained by sender at the post office when posting .Anyway when your new rounds come in you won’t have time to talk to your customers.

The Post Office® will also provide a signature for your Certificate of Posting document. A Certificate of Posting is your proof that you have posted the item declared on the certificate into the Royal Mail network. The Certificate of Posting needs to be date stamped and signed at a Post Office® window as having been accepted into the network.

You implied 'you' gave her the proof of purchase, read your first post. It seems you just quoted what someone asked you on the 'internet' as a thread, no wonder people got confused.

Tell her to make a claim, attach photocopy of said proof and she will be entitled, I think, to 'x' times the cost of a first class stamp, i forget the actual amount right now. About £20/£30ish quid though.

Also no good giving the person who purchased the goods the evidence. Royal Mail do not deal with the recipient with compo, it's the sender's responsibility.

For stamped and metered items a postage refund plus compensation on the basis of actual loss, where evidence of posting and evidence of value can be provided. This compensation is subject to the maximum payable being the lower of the market value of the item and statutory maximum of 100 x 1st Class stamps at the first weight step.

Postage refund (a minimum payment of 6 x 1st Class letter stamps at the first weight step) shall be payable where only basic evidence is provided or the item is of no intrinsic value.

Claims must be submitted within 12 months of posting.

update - it was sent thru parcel force....... but still from the post office
