USPS and RM

Post by markis »

I have heard that RM are looking at the American postal service as the model for deliveries, combining it with two postman per one van. The delivery span would be six and a half hours and you would take your break in the van and you would be less fatigued as you would no longer have your bag on your shoulder.

Although i cannot be sure it is more a Dutch/Netherlands thing than American and would think any such system would invalidate any such nations claim to be GREEN!.

Here's a sort of helpful explanation of how American delivery staff work:

I don't know. Why "park and loop" for rural routes? If you're going to go with vans, why not one guy/gal per vehicle?

Good point. I hadn't thought about that.

I don't know. I'm American and I've talked in the past to guys who work for the USPS. The trucks they use are automatic and most of them are so small they're hardly more than jeeps.

With a little goodwill from management (I know - ha ha), learning how to drive shouldn't be more difficult than prepping a complicated walk.

Given that most Americans are nearly the size of a van how do they get two of them in one ?
