Last letter, then you don't get paid

So apparently we cannot claim overtime for anything after we have posted last letter? I have always claimed OT up to the point I walk out of the office, but I am in the wrong, or so a colleague told me? If I ever get challenged about this I will say fair enough.......oh btw all the 739'd stuff is in a drop box, you might want to pick it up by tomorrow morning

Your 739s and signatures are still in your care, faliure to return them to your DO / PO / or pouch off to your driver could result in a conduct code ( not sure which - is it wilful delay or insecure mail? ).....so if you have to return to your office, before you go home, then book every last minute up to and including the time you complete every last duty demanded of you by RM ( personally I would include 10 mins of D2Ds, kill offs, housekeeping round your bench....EVERYTHING! ) If you stop for a brew and a chat after you have completed everything & then book it, your DOM or lineos might think you're having a bubble ( but doing all that before you finish is something you might get away with! )

Cheers Jim. I realise leaving 739'd stuff is pretty serious and I wouldn't really do it but do they really expect us to work for free??! If I am required to go back to the office then surely I should get paid?? I wonder why the union has let this stand??

you get paid until you return to the office, then a 20 min meal break on top, should be built into the duty structure, not sure but it's all in the wpq's 1 2 and 3 (i think), or if not there can anyone say which it is

If you have to wait for conveyance, even if you have to wait an hour or two, than book it - your day doesn't stop until your responsibilites are discharged.....why should your pay stop on time, if your responsibilites don't?

If you get challenged by your DOM & he pulls a face, then say to him, that's ok, I will now deliver so I can come back to this office 10mins before my finish time....if I will have more mail left to deliver, I will let you know how much I expect to remain before I leave the office every time I expect such an event will occur. I will also inform you of any SDs that are in that excess mail that you will have to get re-allocated to another delivery officer. If he splutters, ask if he wants you to stay out, in which case you expect to be able to claim and get OT for all the time it takes you to discharge all your duties ( assuming his head has not exploded with all the big words you're using by that time )

I will do. In all honesty I think he's pulling the wool. I spoke to another postie and he purposely stands in the queue at the PO to claim more OT even though he can just go straight to the parcel window

I know the Major D.O. 10 mins down the road from us that their Posties are allowed to leave Packets in there boxes for drivers to collect later on... Seems a pretty good idea as i don't want to be carrying a packet/parcel or large item around with me that was in my 1st bag that i was unable to deliver.

Simple cut off after informing your manager you will not be delivering the last letter at your contracted hours expiry let him make said arrangements for the completion of the remainder of the walk!.
