Late Saturdays

We have been informed that as part of the modernization process our office hours will be changing probly to like a 9 to 5 scenario, this will include saturdays if the bosses have there way, we have been told that the only sticking point left between the union and bosses is the late Saturdays. I was wondering if most people feel like myself in regards it being a disaster for any quality time spent with family, any sporting activity u still enjoy to watch, the thought of working to 5 or 6 at night on a saturday is soul destroying, and as iv always felt the royal mail has been a supporter of family values etc, im in royal mail over 10 yrs and i like my job, but fear i will have to start searching to see whats about that doesnt involve a full working saturday!! Just wondering if people are as annoyed about the prospects of it as i am??????

Sorry not a News item as per the guidelines so moved into Union Room. Apparently the new agreement will include normal working Saturdays but fewer of them, however, we will have to wait for sight of the agreement to see the details.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Can you imagine the grievances that will go in if we are working until 5pm Sat and the managers are away early

Cant remember the last time we had a manger on a Saturday, just a jumped up PHG from the callers office.

Got to go to a 5 day week delivery to solve a lot of Royal mails problems, staff would welcome it and customers wouldnt really mind and EVR's for all those that want it with not so many staff required.

Will we be compensated for money we have already paid out to join our sports clubs and season tickets for football ? Most of these are Saturday only and we have been doing these activities for years,vote no to later Saturday's no matter what else is in agreement.

If you think your weekend is short now,imagine how short it will seem if you don't get home until Jeff Stelling is reading out the half-time scores. :nervous

In our office,Saturday has been the same as any other day of the week since we went to one delivery.My duty yesterday was 7am-3pm.The earliest duty on Saturday is 6.15am-2.15pm.

Any news as when the agreement is gonna be ready for us to see, or what are the updates on what is going on, not heard from the union since the strikes.

The finish time at my DO is 11am on a Saturday for everyone, that's the way I'd like it to stay! I can get to some away games at the moment, with later finishes I'd be struggling to make even home games.

I have a season ticket and my club is 80 miles from where I live. Later saturdays means no football for me anymore. If this comes in then I think I'll be saving my £150 a year union subs from now on.

Late Saturdays = Vote No! You won't catch Higson, Tolhurst, Hayes or Ward working on Saturdays.
