Re: daily rest
RM have a track record of ignoring such things as directives, in fact they even ignore their own rules...

Re: daily rest
Its every individuals right to ignore the daily rest rules if THEY want to, its only against the law for RM to make you ignore itgideon 60 wrote:Do royal mail abide by the 11 hour daily rest break under the work time directive? Quoting the Working Time Directive http://direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Empl ... G_10029451
You have the right to it. You can not be told to take less than an 11 hour gap between shifts but you can choose to do so if you want to. Have to side with the managers on this one, none of your business what hours they are working so long as they choose to do so.Daily rest - a break between working days
If you are an adult worker you have the right to a break of at least 11 hours between working days. This means as an adult worker, if you finish work at 8.00 pm on Monday you should not start work until 7.00 am on Tuesday.

Re: daily rest
I accept union reps sticking their nose,s in to other people,s hours seem,s a bit naughty but in this office the chosen few get loads of o/t and the rest whistle, also with appalling unemployment people working over 70 hours a week is immoral.adb2aber wrote:Quoting the Working Time Directive http://direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Empl ... Re: daily rest
Not just that is it laws can be ignored by anyone but if one of them has an accident and the police become involved you will be involved in their case even though they may not have a leg to stand on just like the person they hit when they fell asleep at the wheel. And what will the managers all say it is his fault he must know how many hours he has worked and he could have pulled over for a rest!.gideon 60 wrote:I accept union reps sticking their nose,s in to other people,s hours seem,s a bit naughty but in this office the chosen few get loads of o/t and the rest whistle, also with appalling unemployment people working over 70 hours a week is immoral.adb2aber wrote:Quoting the Working Time Directive http://direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Empl ...
