SKY MAG CHANGES

I am usually found in the Counters forum, but I thought this was of interest.

I got a letter through from Sky saying that you will only get a mag sent out if you have all 6 'packs' and/or any sky premium or stand-alone premium channel.

Also, if you have movies 1 or 2, or sports 1 or 2 then there are 2 separate mags as well.

To cut a long story short, (too late!), I'm wondering what the posties thought of this as this surely means that not EVERY Sky customer will get a mag every month, (starting mid May I think).

Just as a little tidbit, at the bottom of the letter it states that the magazine may be in paper or online/digital versions. Bloody vague.

I remember when sky first started. You paid £2 per month for the mag but it was mandatory and inbuilt into the total cost of sky per month. I wonder if that means that those who will no longer get the mag will get a reduction in price.
It is just another cost cutting exercise that all businesses are having to do to survive which in turn hits RM.
By the time any deal is done and sent to us to vote on, RM will be thinking of ways to add even more on to us.

Why the hell do they need Sky mags, when all the programmes for many weeks are listed, and accessible with the Sky control?

Oh, of course, silly me...to get money from people who advertise in it.
And there's stooooopid old me thinking it was to benefit their subscribers!!!

SKY; The people who "illegally" paid rugby union players Down Under for years, which led to professionalism going worldwide.
Wonder if they'll pay Andy Powells bar tab and drink/drive fine?! LOL!

the reason sky charged but made you take it was because it was a tax fiddle, but this closed a while ago, hence this change.

I Won't be getting any sky mags at my address anymore. I just cancelled all my sky two weeks ago. £60 a month I am paying for the same crap. my hubby enjoys football. but every other channel is repeat after repeat. if everyone cancelled they would have to bring their prices down, but its like delivery offices, we are a nation that never sticks together. freeview for me now. I can now safe £720 a year...I'll send of for a load of holiday brochures now and do my posties head in. Lol.
On another note a 3rd full timer sacked at my office Friday, that's 3 since January, be very careful out there..

Spot on post. Exactly boycott the company. Infact do it to alot of companies you think are taking the living piss. We now live in a world now when/if we stick together then we the customer can actually dictate on how much we can/should be paying for various services. Its not like these companies will go bust through it as they like to boast massive profits at the end of the financial year.

I gave up reading the Sky mag months ago, its a pile of poop really and (unlike the Courier ) does not fit the litter tray. However its revenue and thats our jobs at the end of the day so any reduction of delivery is not really welcomed.

The reason Sky mags came out was a tax avoidance thing. What happened was one year Sky put their prices up , part of the rise was to cover the cost of the mag . As magazines are not covered by Vat , this part of the rise was not taxable.
