Fraudulent opportunist/Liar...

Post by Thunderthighs »

These are some of the written words used in response to my claim against a dog owner, and attack/injury.
I'm gobsmacked! Their version of events is totally twisted to what Factually/Actually happened.
Having 4 months off, with 2 GP's, physio, Consultant and Registrar confirming my injury, where do these people get off?
Apparently, I also aggressively attacked their dog?! The dog has also chased another postie, so witness statement to follow.

( Several people have stated - including an independent solicitor - that this "Fraudulent Opportunist/Liar" statement could be Libel/Slander.
But this solicitor also stated that to defend/fight this, you'll need "Loadsa muneeee!!!")

And people wonder why we don't claim more often? The dog owners need to be shot, not the dogs.

So, Simp/Millar are on the case.

If it ever get's to court surely the presiding judge in his or her infinite wisdom will be able to distinguish between the wheat and the chaffe and make an informed decision based on those facts that are presented by your legal representatives. Of course the dog owners may or may not settle for an out of court settlement.

Simp/Millar already on the case, as stated. Dog owner's words were in a letter refuting my claim...
Considering that another postie was chased by said dog - twice - and dog was aggressive to off-duty copper whilst talking to this postie recently, say's it all!
Apparently, I allegedly "attacked" their dog, with a letter in my hand. What's this "Death by a Thousand Paper Cuts" ?! Unreal...

Claims dog just "noisy" and this is the same dog that when I called there 3 yrs ago, jumped up, grabbed THEIR packet from my hand and ravaged it, LOL!!!
Think their version of events is a bit "clouded" ie, not factual, inaccurate, biased towards their pet etc.
Oh, and the lady has been "seriously ill" too. Wonder if her dog bit her?

Hope you get what your due. Compensation and the mut destroyed. The owner should be banned from owning any pet in future as they obviously cant control/look after it. Its the same with children you fail to look after/control them properly they get taken off you, the same should apply with animals.
I was badly bit on the back of the leg by an alsation the other year, had to go for a tetanus etc, the owner said it had never bit or been aggresive to anyone before. She never believed me at first,(bit of a gobby cow) so i had to drop me calvins kleins and prove it to her. The neighbours witnessed the whole event. No applogy or nothing. None of the neighbours never liked the family either.

I deliver to 4 high rise tower blocks now and virtually every chav has one of these cross breed staff things, none of em on a lead or musseled, they just roam around the landings and outside. Must admit im nervous around dogs eversince that incident.

and the mut destroyed
sorry no - bad training and the owner should be banned from owning any dog until they show a capability to train a dog. But the dog to be destroyed, sorry retrained and put with another family is I think better than putting it down.

I gotta disagree there mate, Once a dog has been brought up the wrong way then theres no changing them imo. Yes the owners are defo to blame no question. But would you trust a dog that has a history of attacking people around your loved ones??

Yes I would - dogs are easy to train as long as you remember a few things about them.

1. They are pack animals and hence need an Alpha in charge male or female. If the human is not directing them what to do and giving them boundaries then they will become aggressive and more likely to attack, because without a pack leader they try to become one.

2. Dogs live in the moment. By this I mean they don't dwell on things like humans do. If a dog gets beaten by an owner then they associate the smell of that owner with pain and react. However, take them out of that situation and with only a little training their behaviour also changes.

3. Dogs don't remember things the same way we do. They are more associative, in other words they associate their actions with outside stimuli. For instance Posties arriving is an exciting thing because, from their point of view, if they bark and jump around the posties leaves. They remember this and eventually associate us leaving their territory when they bark and jump. If the owner does something that distracts them from this behaviour and rewards them when they remain quite, a dog will associate the post arriving and if they don't react they get rewarded.

My sister is a dog trainer and has always asserted this is right. Me personally I have only been attacked once, and that was a small yorkie from behind so I was caught unaware. However I have 2 separate dogs charge at me, and a combination of an authoritative voice shouting NO! and putting the pouch between me and the dog has saved me from being attacked by them, and long may it continue as well :pray :pray :pray :pray :pray

Fair post there. Ive been attacked by a few dogs in my time, nothing bad just bites, only twice working for royal mail. Saying that ive grown up around staff bull terriers who were lovely dogs all of them. They were brought up well and not vicious in any way. I like dogs esp boxers, just trying to persuade the missus in having one :chuckle . I just think that when a dog has an aggressive streak in them then they can turn or its in them to turn, but saying that i suppose most dogs would have that in them. Your sister would know alot more than me though as she obviously works with them so i aint gonna argue the toss lol :chuckle its just the way i feel myself about them.

I did try the "authoritive voice" thing, telling the dog to go away, and also held the post in my hands to it's snarling/gnashing jaws.
This was observed as "aggression, attacking, striking" their baby!

I've got dogs, and if anyone calls, you just - well, most normal dog owners - lock them in a safe place whilst the visitor/guests/tradesmen are present.
Opening the door and letting them out is NOT an option.

ANYHOW, it's in the hands of the Gods.

Sorry to sound cruel but it's easier and a lot less hassle to destroy the dog and ban the owner from having any more dogs. It's just too much of a pain in the backside to take a badly behaved dog and pass it onto someone to so they can retrain it to be a good pooch. Don't get me wrong I like dogs but it requires a special person that knows what they are doing with dogs, such as your sister; such people don't grow on trees or come cheap.

Although I don't do deliveries, I have had to deal with aggressive dogs from time to time. Including a number of incidents with a loose dog on my street, which attacked someone else. I've found that assuming a submissive posture, avoiding eye contact, and backing off, quite effective. Whether it'd be as effective, considering that the dogs will recognise your uniform or not, I don't know. But it works for me.
