Could anyone tell me if there is anything in employment law that states that if you have been working the same hours for a length of time you become entitled to those hours regardless of your contract?

What is your actual problem? Are they making you work past your contracted hours or what. Can you give more information so you can get the answer, if at all possible, to what you are asking?

I am on a full time additional contract covering all shifts and dutys! but for the last two years i have been on the one shift and i am now being asked to go back to covering all shifts!

Im pretty sure there is something written down about being entitled to the same working time if you have been doing that shift for a length of time?
