With the promise (!) of Park & loop arriving at our Office later this year I can see loads of problems and nothing to look forward to!!
With the current "I'm all right Jack" mentality rife in the office, where job & knock still exists. There is already people saying that if their "partner" is not ready in time at the end of the delivery they are going to drive back to the office without them!!
And what happens with the current longs & shorts? At the moment if you have a Tuesday or Saturday off you finish 25 minutes earlier. So people being paired up would have to have the same days off or one Postie would be finishing at a different time to the other.
And I still cannot see how a driver/non-driver delivery will work.
At the moment despite the "Post Office runners" who arrive early (30 mins to an hour or more) the Office is working. So if it ain't broke why fix it!!

Good point about long and shorts, not sure how they will get around that.I am confident that they will have thought of every eventuality
Regarding the runners leaving the conscientious workers behind, well (f..k em) they're the ones that will get more crap to do.
I intend to do my job properly, and hang the concequences.
You will work the same hours each day including sat, anyone who is a driver and this means even private cars(flyers beware)will be classed as a driver for RM so there should be enough drivers to cover and remember it looks like driving allowance will go, there is no way anyone will be able to go or leave a postman in office or at end of dely, you would be responsible for conveyance, so if they wanted to return to office for finishing time and your driving you got to take them back or if your not driving they will have to take you back and then finish dely......lots of probs here methinks
i was going to ask about this - anyone who already has it going in their office, could they tell us how it's going, any problems they've encountered, etc.
park and poop - dont think this will apply to my area of walks - we allready get taken out by the packet driver he drops us off and thats that..
our walks are not exzactly park deliver and move alogn friendly its all blocks of flats that lead on to each other but not in an easy way woodnt be easy for a car to get around.

When park and loop comes in the jobs will be completly re-designed to suit the new delivery method. As for one running and leaving the other - thats not gonna happen. Both drivers will be responsible for the van and all mail in it. There will be compulsery return to the office for EVERYONE.
The routes themselves will be worked out in a very detailed structure, even to the point you park and there will be no deviation from this structure. This (i am told) will be heavily policed and monitored by telemetary and patrolling.

Just a cursory glance at that statement I think someone is trying to pull your chain. Park and Loop will include Large Parcels, tracked and Specials therefore there cannot be and IMHO will not be "defined" parking spots which will be monitored, what's the point of parking in an approved spot and then carrying a heaving packet for 100 yds or more.
Sorry someone is scaremongering.

If the none driver wants to finish on his/her time and the driver conveys them back to the office, do you honestly think, bearing in mind they both finish at the same time, that the driver is going to go back and finish the rest??

Do you expect the 'planning team' to actually be able to do more than plan how to drink coffee and update their FB page whenever they did it in my office they took a rural then bolted on a town, then added on a bit more plus all the packets/bulks and the comment from the planner - 'Just work it out yourselves'.
