Combo vans the spawn of satan

As some of you may know I drive a combo and its shite,but now ive seen it all.I had a breakdown in my van and was given a replacement combo,but this bastard locks itself everytime you drive off and you have to press a button to release it.Now i prob get out nearly 300 times on my rural,and sometimes i forget to press the button,it drives you mad.But postman are like marines,we adapt and overcome,so 4 pieces of sellotape jamming the button down works a treat.Lastly whoever authorised us to have these vehicles is quite clearly insane,has anyone else had this problem.

I know the Bippers self lock when you drive off but they automatically open when you open the drivers door, it sounds like there's a problem with that particualr van so I would fill in the repair form and send it off

my last van was like that.
it locked the doors when you put handbrake down. some stupid security feature.

I had one of those for overtime on packets a few weeks ago, got locked out and had to ring the office. What is the point of it?

Am I the only one who struggles to get in and out of the combos? They are just too low when your getting in and out of them all the time, doesnt do my back any good at all.

Apparently it is a safety feature so you can lock yourself in, I,am told if you in an accident they automatically open!!!

I had one of those too for a day or 2 and found it very frustrating
I found that if you relaese the handbrake but don't push it quite all the way down then the doors don't lock
I takes a bit of practice as you need release it far enough to make sure the handbrake is fully off but not far enough to lock the doors and I would guess be dependant on how good/bad the handbrake is adjusted.
It worked fine for me
Vauxhall Combo vans are way too low for getting in and out of and no good if you have any kind of back complaint.

we have just got a "bippa" at our office. the bloke driving it is only short and he says he can't get the seat back far enough????

I've found in 2 of our combos the right hand side of the seat has collapsed so you sit on plastic, now at 11 stone i'm hardly heavy am i?

my problem with them is the wing mirrors actually obstruct my view. after a couple of near misses, i have to be extra vigilant and try and look around them at junctions. fortunately, i only have to drive one once a week, or it would be well annoying.

yep i'm with you there.... they're so low to get out of you have to actualy hold on to the door frame and haul yourself up out of them... my back and hips are murderin' me after a day in a combo

I drive one of these two days a week and they really are crap, they are too low to get out of and you cannot get a decent driving position as the seat only goes backwards, no height adjustment. The mirrors are dangerous and do block out your line of sight at junctions. These need to be looked at by H & S as continued daily use will cause back problems.

Agree. I prefer the Ford Connects - just swing out of those sitting higher up.

I quite like mine I agree the elephant ears wing mirrors are a pain at roundabouts/ junctions. I ve driven the "Bippa" but i prefer the Combo as it feels more like a car to me.

I guess it depends on the one you get though as i had a 54 plate combo which had a bad flat spot and kept stalling.
