How long is YOUR prep time?

As the title says, how long is your prep time.? This is actual prep , including 20% d2d ,redirections, kill offs tying up etc. It took me 2 hours 27 minutes today ,nearly every house 545 drops really heavy. Lino was really pissed off when i had to leave some mail behind.Doing the job properly, the part i took out took 3 hours. Just waitng now to get my walk retested.

how long have u been on the walk for to all of a sudden decide its to big?

if this was the case id be leaving 1 rd of my frame in every time because my walks over by 1 hour.

maybe i should try this.

and what is the procedure for getting walk tested. shurly it was tested when they first made the walk???

el cartero thinks he has the biggest walk nationally every post he makes is a whinge about co workers mostly full timers.
about time you started doing your job properly and stopped complaining about other workers who do there job properly.

Start at 0600 .....30mins prep......up to 1 hour sorting......2 hours+/- prep......20 mins meal relief....out at 1015.....1st letter at 1030....finish at 1400...back at 1415.

start at 9am, finish throwing out mail that hasn't been thrown out by the time i get in, sort packets on to frame, redirections, kill offs, tie up, bag up, weigh bags. I'm supposed to be out the door by 9.50am. Sometimes I am, sometimes much later.

i just wish i'd come in to find all the mail in the frame and packets sorted, as well as redirections done for me by the time i get in, like they should be as i'm a part timer. they never are though. i'm not far off doing what most of the full timers do, yet i have to do it all in an hour.

Start 0615 - IPS until 0700 - 2 hours prep. 0900 - out on delivery. Last letter 1320 - back to DO 1325 - 10 mins security. Finish at 1335. Add 40 mins meal relief - official finish 1415. (Yes I know we should be taking part of meal relief before going out on delivery!!!)

That leaves 6 hours in a 8 hour day.

40 minute break leaves 5.20.

3.30 delivery leaves 1hr 50 .

30 minutes travelling leaves 1:20

In that 1 hour 20 a FT has to prep his frame and yours so even if he does it split in half that only leaves 40 minutes to prep each frame fully That probably explains why only the packets, missorts and bagging is left.

At least that's how I read it.


To be honest anyone who is doing a waysiders duty (bag carriers, delivery only, 20 hour) or whatever local name is given to them, and thinks they do not have enough time to do it then do what FTimers do, claim, cut off and or complain to the DOM. Your duty not being prepped is not other posties being lazy, its bad management and that's where questions should be addressed.

In our office on a 6.15 start all full timers have i.p.s, dual prep 2 frames including redirctions and packets on the part-timers frame,both frames tend to have 550+ doors all to be done by 9.35 and any lapsing when required!

Though to be fair there does seem to be a lot of f/t posties who haven't got their heads around the new contracts. Quite often I hear them moaning about newstarts "who don't know how to put an effing frame up". The fact they are not trained to do this or allocated time to do it seems to have escaped them completely.
But then we have so many different contracts and so many people not actually working their scheduled hours it is hard to know what anyone actually does in the DO now.
I used to think it was organised chaos but I'm not sure about the organised bit any more.

90 minutes for 1 frame I take it x2 minimum 550 maybe if your weren't having fag breaks you could do some more indoor work!

We do plenty of indoor work, it all gets done at the end of the day and very rarely does anyone go over.
