Environmental impact of using cars on delivery

Could the above be used as ammo to get cars off delivery?

If the eco-warriors get hold of this my bet is they would rip RM to shreds. I think every company has an obligation to reduce CO2 gases etc (correct me if wrong), and they are certainly not helping by sending 000's of posties out in their own cars when bikes, containers etc are much more environmentally friendly.

Scrap doors to doors

Instead of one or two major delivery office in town why not have one little one in every village so we can walk to work and sort the mail and then deliver it and drop anything back there.

They (R.M) are not sending posties out in their own cars. its the posties choice to use his or her car on delivery. get your facts right. eco warrior...

Well some posties are trained up on how to deliver by car and to a fresh face in the office, they would feel like they don't have a choice or they are 'making a fuss' by insisting on not delivering in a car. I do not for one second believe that every postie that uses their car does so because they really want to! And whether they want to or not, there is absolutely no real reason you should be using a car on delivery, rurals are the only rounds that should need the use of a (provided) vehicle.

They (R.M) are not sending posties out in their own cars. its the posties choice to use his or her car on delivery. get your facts right. eco warrior...

Weak argument. Because management, in most cases, turn the proverbial blind eye to wallies using their own vehicles to conduct deliveries, they just might as well be accused of sending posties out in their own cars.

Well some posties are trained up on how to deliver by car and to a fresh face in the office, they would feel like they don't have a choice or they are 'making a fuss' by insisting on not delivering in a car. I do not for one second believe that every postie that uses their car does so because they really want to! And whether they want to or not, there is absolutely no real reason you should be using a car on delivery, rurals are the only rounds that should need the use of a (provided) vehicle.

Like I say its their choice, they might have reason that they deliver in the car I.e breaking off dropping their kids at School or Nursery. the parents might want checking on every so often through old age, and other commitments, you cannot tell people not use the cars. Royal Mail is not bothered one way or the other.

Yep someone elses car and I bet my right arm they didn't have insurance to carry me. A fresh faced postman on my first day, how was I to know and who was I to argue, I ask?

As with any corporation the bottom line is..the bottom line. If they think they can make a bit more money by switching to vans then FU:K the environment, vans it will be. That's why the environment is fooked up - because it pays to use resources, it creates buisness. Basically if we shut down all the buisnesses that do environmental damage half the population will be job less. That's why the planet is fooked and we will never save it. We are totally doomed, nothing can save us now.

Plain and simple... DO NOT USE YOUR CAR to do your duty!

Do RM pay you to use your car? NO
Do RM pay the insurance on your car?NO
Do RM pay the petrol used in your car? NO
Do RM pay for tires for your car? NO
Do RM pay for your car to be serviced? NO
DO RM pay your road tax? NO
Are RM laughing at you for HELPING them by using YOUR cars? NO

They are saving a fortune by you doing this... and you are helping mess up the environment by helping them out by dint of the fact that you use your cars


Ride a bike to do your duty if you are not a van driver!

Be Green... use a bike.. or can't you ride one? (as in you don't know how to!)
