WTLL at 8.00 yet certain contracts start at 9am

Post by Pat Ostman »

Can someone give me some advise please?

We obviously have WTLL at 8.00 but several staff start at 9AM. Where do these people stand as they'll never get to know company policy (for that week). How can you have a team of people who get to attend these sessions, and others who do not.

We are told that the manager must brief the 9AM starters but this NEVER happens, they are always told that "X" is too busy, either that or the drivers spit their dummies out and moan.

Anyone know the official pollicy. They have even tried conducting people via information not learned by not attending these "team briefs"

In the past 12 months I've been at no more than 6 WTLL sessions (and 2 of those where for the Friends Like these video) and TBH that's still too many, Tuesday is now too heavy because of long and shorts to have them anyway.

This is my point, they SHOULD tell all staff their 'policies'. What would happen if you have been conducted for doing something you did not know about because it was a new policy in a team brief. Are the 9.00 staff not part of the 'team?'.

Have them every week. Information read from internal press release. Ask a question that isn't on it and get no answer.

I think we are digressing here :Very Happy.

Last week we were told we must sign a new signing on sheet at work. It was a conduct issue not to sign the new sheet, placed in a different location. This was discussed in WTLL. How are the rest of the staff meant to know?

Also, I am trying to prove that the 9AM starts are unworkable, this further demonstrates the point I believe.

So do I have any point at all in this as far as Royal Mail goes? What sort of organisation has meetings meant for the whole workforce with half of it absence from?

Finally, are Part Time workers just not special enough to be invited to these 'team' briefs or does the information only apply to full timers!

i think the problem stems from contracts being issued by 'personnel' and not from the actual place of work.
These new entrants are handed a contract stating 9.00-2.00,yet the local manager needs you to start before
this.
The WTLL session can be broken down into groups,so in theory there is nothing stopping your DOM from
holding a seperate one for people who arrive at 9.00.
However, two questions, are the part-time staff actually interested in having one?
and is key information being relayed to all staff in terms of a 'daily huddle'?
Your point about what is acheivable within 5 hours is a valid one,the fact that WTLL is recorded as 30mins,would
seriously jepoardise your DOM's ability to lapse on this day. :hmmmm

I think the reason that most dom's dont do W.T.L.L session is mainly due to the fact they never know what the hell they are ment to be saying on the "topic of the day". Alway's been the case that in are office, they march in with a printed out email, say there bit, then get to many awkward question's that alway's lead on to other thing's that are going on in the office, and rightfully so the rep alway's look's right and it can be a good tool for the union, seen many people join after hearing them talk crap............

If you think Tuesdays are heavy its time to find another job. Lightweight.
