TBT re-signs are dependent on whether the staff of the office want a R/S not R/M regardless of the amount of changes.
I took our re-pick to my divisional rep due to the concerns of senior postmen who thought they would be leap-frogged by less senior postmen. It was over driving duties and walk picks.
Driving duty gets picked then as in some cases the same person at the same time was picking a walk ,in effect they were having 2 picks and getting the cream of the driving duties and the walks .This wasnt acceptable to us as an office also less senior men were getting a very good walk over very senior postmen.
In our office its the reps that do the picks not management then everything is above board and no under handedness has occured.
The way we do it now is we advertise the drivng duties first go down the seniorty list and ask everyone until the driving duties have been allocated. As the driving duties in our office our 2 man sections we combine the seniority of boththen divide by 2 we then feed them back into the system.
Its is then we start the walk picks again by going down the seniority in the correct order.
In our office your given at least 7 days to study the new duties then pick but if youve been in the job a while it shouldnt take long to pick a new duty.
There are some that dont agree with this system but its the fairest i know of. Why should one person have the choice of two duties in one pick they shouldnt simples and in a re-sign you have to be fair to all not just a few.
