striking posties rejoin union

at our office we have 3 posties who were union members then decided to cross the picket line during the strikes,( one of them even travelling to another office on a strike day which was infact her due day off). They then left the union and as is quite common were then favoured by the dom and were given all available overtime they wanted!. Now we have a new dom who is more fair and does not give them priority and now surprise surprise they want to rejoin the union. Just wanted to know if they will be able to, as the general feeling at our office is b.....cks to them.!!!

I think they able too but how many of you will go on strike or any kind of action for them!

Well viking if i was your union rep i would hand them the area rep's number if they wanted representation.
Probably not the correct "by the book" thing to do but f*ck them.
Once a sc*b always a sc*b as far as i'm concerned and i would feel an idiot helping them just for them to cross the line again.

personally speaking,I've always taken the view that if you join a club you abide by the rules.And if you have a democratic secret ballot and the vote goes against you ,then tough,you accept the result.
But as one of my friends always says to me 'Heaven loves a repentant sinner'.or have they repented?

You cannot stop them rejoining the union unfortunately. However if I was the rep in that office I would be buggered if I'd represent them

You are wrong my friend. You are entitled to representation as a member but it does not have to be from your rep as he has a choice too and if i was your rep I wouldn't do it.

bet you were happy to spend all the benefits the union managed to achieve in 2007...... I wouldnt have represented you either... nor would have my area rep. Thats what makes the sick with strkebreakers... They want the penny and the bun... So glad to be out of it...

I hope your financial situation improves so that if we unfortunately have to strike you will be able to also.It is solidarity that gives our Union its strength and its what gives your local rep more power when dealing with management on your behalf.The less strong the support for a strike the less power the local rep has in dealing with management.Some people start putting a couple of quid a week away if they see strikes on the horizon to tide them over.there is also normally a local hardship fund that can help people who have serious financial issues I believe during a strike.Also dont forget that many of us are not very well off either ,if we all were well off there probably wouldn't be a need for strike action lol.

Very sore point with me, if you don't go out on strike but are perfectly happy to accept any benefits that are won by your colleagues losing money, to me that is wrong.

Been in the same situation years ago, bloke who consistantly worked strikes and took great pleasure in the fact that he got paid for sitting in the office kicking his heels and drinking coffee while the rest of us lost money. Was pulled for dumping and asked me a Union Rep to represent him as I had a good rapport with the managers and had managed to get a lot of people off, I refused and he said I must repesent him as he was a member of the Union so I resigned and 2 weeks later he was sacked.

I wouldn't support him as he didn't support us the Union!
