HCT Trolley

Hello,

You might have seen a couple of my posts before. I'm working on a uni project to try and design an easier and better way to deliver the post without you having to put your back out. Looking at the specification for the HCT trolley it says that its capable of carrying a load of upto 80kg. I was wondering, in practice do you ever carry 80kg in the trolley or is volume the bigger factor? eg does the trolley become full before it meets its weight limit?

I've seen plenty of HCT's leaving my office with over 110kg !!

Both Volume and Weight can be a factor. It's a fair push when there are 75 or more kilos in them. Occasionally there is so much mail that it cannot be fitted in. In instances such as this we replenish in the same manner as walking postmen with bags.

Here's an idea! Instead of sitting at a computer on your lazy student ass designing something you are never gonna use yourself (don't worry RM managers will lap it up coz they won't use them either) why don't you get a agency job at your local delivery office and try it for yourself?? While you are trying to deliver the equivalent weight of 4 toddlers under increasing time pressure you might have time to get your notebook out and amend your design

Yes you all have it wrong its no longer HCT for High Capacity trolley - but for High Capacity Tardis

At christmas,both sides of trolley full,lids closed easy,no sitting on them sort of thing,went to push it ,thought,by jesus its heavy.This day was lumbered with sky and saga amongst other things.It was just mail in the trolley,no packets as they had gone on to drop point in pouchs.Weighed the trolley and it was just over 135kg.So there you go.these trolleys will take a higher weight,but wether they will fall apart thats another thing.And no I didnt take it all out like that.broke it down to a more reasonable weight.
