Getting called in about not doing absorption

Have a meeting tomorrow about not being able to do absorption as well as the walk I'm on. I am a reserve on a 25 hour contract and for the past 2 weeks have been on a different walk every day, some I am totally unfamiliar with. Haven't had to do absorption on a 25 hour contract (was brought down from a 35 hour where I used to do absorption). I understand absorption is to be done if there is available time within the duty you are on, is this written down anywhere. We have a temp manager at the moment, when I say I won't be able to absorb he says I should have plenty of time and manage it easily, really pissing me off more than anything. Two others on the same contract in the same boat, he hasn't realised yet but he hasn't put them down on the sheet to absorb this week and don't want to land them in it. I am the only part time reserve though, everyone else has a duty or floaters duty.

Our Rep said anyone on a 30 hr contract and under shouldn't be doing it! Then went back on it and said depends on whether your duty has time to do it or not.

Ask if it's been agreed in advance and signed off by your union rep at their weekly resoursing meeting. This is the correct procedure for lapsing duties out with summer savings if this hasn't happend then your manager hasn't followed the proper procedures.

Do it by the book reality. Try it. Come in on time. Start throwing off. Go for meal break. Weigh bags. Cut off if you run out of time. EASY!

If you have time do it. If not don't do it. Tell him you are not finding you have the time to do it and say u happy to be walk tested. We will all be doing this sooner or later as they will keep piling it on to us until we say 'ENOUGH'. Do you job properly and he looses. It's will mean some stressful times but he's being a slave driver. Don't be a slave.

I was under the impression that any absorption was supposed to be done with-in work time therefore not forcing staff to come in early or work past there finishing time.

Think about putting in a grievence if you feel that he is being unreasonable. The process can be long, but later on it gets investigated by the DOMs manager and then it goes out of the area if you are not happy.

I think that the Dom is trying to make a name for himself.

How on earth was this allowed to happen? our DIM tried the exact same thing the other day but was told where to go
