I just had a new external hard drive for my PC (£130) delivered from Amazon. The doorbell rang, I just got down the stairs and there was no-one there, although my box from Amazon was on the doormat, in the rain. And in the street a HDN van pulled away.

Absolute bunch of cowboys.

the same thing happened to me at xmas with a few parcels found them round the back not even a note through the door get them on dispatches!! :no no

Have to be careful on this subject. My own postie keeps "door stepping" me even though I have told him not to. We need to sort ourselves out onthis issue.

Hand on heart - have never done this even with the low energy bulbs.

I have a mind to send a complaint to Amazon though.

They make a big fuss about us being shite and then use these cowboys.

During the heavy snow last month I ordered a pair of thermal lined walking trousers online
(a bargain in the Craghoppers sale reduced from £45 to £15). It too was delivered by HDN
and I found the package left on my doorstep when I got home.
Probably fortunate that not many thieves were out and about due to the weather.
But I was glad to have recieved them though. :Very Happy

You should do so. Big companies like Amazon value their reputation highly. If they think it is being denigrated by the actions of a delivery company they will not look kindly on renewing that contract in the future. RM has lost contracts to companies like Amazon in the past on cost grounds, only to win them back when they come up for renewal on reliability.

a bit ago I signed up with BT broadband and they said they'd send out a hub for me. waited and waited desperate for my internet ... rang up BT to say I was paying for this internet i wasn't using because they hadn't sent the hub out. the woman said 'but you signed for the hub a week ago'. i said no, if i had it why would i be ringing up complaining? she huffed and puffed a bit but said she'd send out another one. I got it a couple of days later. Next day my neighbour came round with a parcel ... guess what, HDN had given my hub to next door, not putting a note through my door. neighbours went on holiday for 3 weeks and I was none the wiser. recently changed broadband supplier and had to take 2 hubs, one brand new unused, to the tip. never mind eh! :roll:

i did it with the bulbs :oops: though i put it on the windowsill above the door IYKWIM
never doorstep anything else though,same goes for signing for stuff
also it depends on the contract between the courier and supplier,some have a leave safe contract
wheres safe is down to interpretation mind

We were told we could leave bulbs,so i didn't need telling twice.
I've been on my round 20 years and i have always left packets.The customers don't mind.
I wouldn't leave them in broad daylight but many have coalhouses and side porches etc.
But obviously now there is a crackdown and threat to jobs so i can't really do it anymore.
