I have always found it better to go over someone's head - if only to piss them off.

A couple of years ago i put in a grievance against my line manager - which was 'misplaced' and lost, so after no response i again placed the grievance into the hands of my line manager - again it was lost in his office (at least i think he said 'office') So by the 3rd time i wised upto my mischievous line manager i wrote up my grievance and printed 4 copies numbering 1 to 4.
I gave number 1to my line manager, number 2 to his manager (my 'area manager') the 3rd to my Union Rep and i kept the 4th for my personal reference.
Needless to say the matter was resolved swiftly with RM having to cough up all the money owed to me that was being illegally withheld from me by my line manager, who now has been moved sideways to another county to bully and harrass some other poor, hard working, honest, postmen and women.
Moral of the story: make a written note in your diary every time your bullied and make 4 copies of any grievances as and when the need arises. hope this helps

That is exactly what I would suggest to anyone who is thinking of doing this. I would even at the end of the document make it blatantly obvious what you have done:

I gave a copy to my rep , one to area rep and sent one to HR, having said that , HR dont rush , so you might have to remind them now and again. You should get an acknowledgment from them within two weeks.

The second stage just a case of copying the 1st stage and maybe adding anything? Sent back my amended notes from 1 st stage as manager missed out a lot ofthe most important facts(surprise surprise eh) Hasnt even waited for my amended notes and just sent back his decision on 1 st stage ! Why is it line managers see 1 st n 2nd stage anyway ,it should be someone independant from them as they close ranks etc .? fed up..but will take this as far as i can ,not just within the r mail.
