in relation to the question you posed i.e paternity related the answer is NO
are you entitled to it? No
Can you take it? Yes

You are not entitled to it. I usually swapped my day off or if I was delivering near the hospital I'd take a long break (with permission obviously) although there is probably a specific type of unpaid leave you can take.

The salary of the chief executive of a large corporation is not a market award for achievement. It is frequently in the nature of a warm personal gesture by the individual to himself.

if you know the time slot and the hospital is say not too long away from walk. Go on a break to see her scanning then come back to work when finished. assuming it doesn't have long wait.

as far as i'm aware there is no basic entitlement for an expectant father to attend a scan.
if you would like to go, then go, the business is not obliged to pay you to attend.
