Travel to work subsistence

I have been seconded to another delivery office which is 4 1/2 miles away from my usual one. My manager is telling me that he 'may not be able to help' with travel subsistence. Does anyone know the rules / break points etc. do you also know if the management want me to go there do they have to get me there? If possible can you quote agreements / manual page numbers please as i have a meeting to discuss the issue tomorrow. thanks

I have done it a few times and it's been 40p a mile from my main DO to the DO I have been sent to and back again.

I was sent to a nearby mail centre a few years ago for xmas pressure, it was 40p a mile then.

If your manager persists in saying he 'may not be able to help' with travel subsistence then simply tell him that you will report to your normal office at your scheduled start time and he will have to make arrangements for you to be transported to the other office and similarly picked up and returned at the end of the day to be back at said office at your scheduled finish time

Well, we've had 2 reserves sent to a DO 16 miles away in a different county!

They must be quids in!

I have been rocking up at my normal time and sitting and waiting for a lift. This is consistently putting me half an hour behind. I have been allowed to book (and do - at least half an hour a day) so its not been a problem..........until today. One of my colleagues, also been ferried out informs me that he's been paid T&S from day one. Before I go nuclear at my DIM, shall I put in a grievance without any more play nice or shall I just demand all T&S back paid forthwith coz I am just about to blow!!

if he refuses to pay then show him the agreement and get the union involved and tell him if he wants you to work there in future you will sign in at your office and a van can take you to another office and pick you up when you finish and if he doesnt pick you up you will keep booking OT till your lift gets you back, my manager done that to me when i was new, he took me there but when i wanted a lift back i couldnt get hold of him so i just sat in the office reading the paper and tried to phone him every half hr. 2 and a half hrs later he answered his phone i said wheres my lift he said he forgot, so i said no worries i could use the extra money for overtime and told him not to rush. He got a collection driver to come pick me up, ended up with 4 hrs docket. Take the piss the way they do.
