what a marvellous coat the royal mail fleece is . during this dreadful winter it has really kept me snug,what with its robust zip and expensive feel i have really looked forward to battling the elements. my brother is a fur trapper in the Yukon and has asked me if i can get him one.

I agree, and the boots are just as good. Torvill and Dean wanted to borrow my magnum boots, but I had to let them down as I've been waiting over 4 months for my Cat's.

Yes have to agree these new fleeces are just great. In fact I'm in my 3rd in 2 weeks. The zips never bust or break

Finally got a pair of dr martins shoes today after a 3 month wait, they lasted an hour till I had to go home and change them, the tongues on them are like razor blades.

The rest of the UNIFORM is crap especialy the low quality cheap fleeces,but the Dr Martin boots are brilliant.
Took ages to wear in an very painfull but now very comftable.

Boots.

Mine took an age to break in, but now they are very comfortable. However, they don't seem to be as hard wearing as I'd hoped, the soles are showing wear already ( six weeks). I reckon they'll last 24 weeks, so as long as they replace them every six months I'll be happy. I was getting through at least 4 pair of Magnums a year.

When I first started I looked at the posties and though thought how scruffy and tatty they looked, wearing shirts that must be at least ten years old, now after eight months I look just like them, tatty cuffs, washed out colours, Fleece that had seen better days before it was worn, hi vis jacket that would only only light up if you put a match to it, it's great to look the part of an underpaid overworked postie at last.

I now know why a lot of the older ones still wear the Harrignton jacket, we even have one who still wears his original peaked cap !!

The fleece is crap.One month and the zip has gone :Applause The caterpillar trainer's are good,but the best item ever issued were the old coats with removeable arm's were the dog's bollox. :dance. Why did they get rid of them?

Hasn't anyone in RM procurement realised that buying cheap shoddy gear is a false economy. Surely one item of good quality is cheaper to supply than having to replace it multiple times because it is a piece of crap and "unfit for purpose" ?

Probably not. Examples being RM supplied pens and Red rubber bands.
