100% Call Rate every day
How would a 100% call rate on walks change the way we work?
If we have 5 (or even 6) household deliveries, one batch per day, to be delivered every day, absorbed into each walk, obviously the walks would need to be cut down in size to absorb this extra work.
I would imagine Pegasus would become a much more accurate tool for creating balanced walks. As long as the management were not left alone with it to input inaccurate data!
We would need re-designed frames, with more slots but less delivery points. Maybe we then could spend time quantifying the growth in packet traffic and building this into the shorter walks.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
Word is it's NOT going to be 1 a day,it will still be the 20% thing.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
I would love D2Ds to be planned in to the workload, as they certainly aren't now! Although I'm sure management will suddenly say D2D volumes are falling so we can absorb more work or some other pathetic excuse to try and save pennies.
Even doing 20% a day would mean more work so in theory we 'should' have shorter walks, but I doubt we will. And that also means day-off/overtimers will have to do 20% unlike now (or at least that's how it is in my office) as I certainly won't be doing it for nothing if they can't be arsed.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
i think like everything else we have been told that will not be the case, once absorbed they are then obviously live mail and as such will go whenever they come in, which will be at any time during the week, unless we get an agreement on that very issuePOSTMAN wrote:Word is it's NOT going to be 1 a day,it will still be the 20% thing.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
Our DOM told us it would be 100% every day, plus all our planned pegasus changes have been put on hold until MAY!!, when we've also been told the bikes are going and we change over to park and loop.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
The only reason for a 100% call rate would be if the D2D spec changed.
The D2D will still arrive the same way and you will still prep and deliver them the same way, there will just be more.
If you have 5 D2D and 5 days to deliver them it makes no business sense to deliver 1 per day
Where would there be the time for lapsing, absorbtion and flexibility?
Think about it.

This is not what I am hearing ,I am not saying ,you are wrong or I am right simply have heard a diffrent story.fishtank wrote:The only reason for a 100% call rate would be if the D2D spec changed.

the limit on D2D LIFTED
But they would come ,like in a evnvelope or something so you would only have the 1 lot of prep and not have to put them together.
I will only vote yes for the d2d thing if it is in the agreement that they will come in already pre bundled .

Much as i would love for you to be right puppetmaster i would doubt if even RM are stupid enough to pay us more to deliver what would in effect be 1 D2D and at the same time also pay for the processing of these "bagged" D2Drs.
I really do hope i'm wrong though as i much prefer your idea.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
nearly 3 years ago a former dom at our office told me that d2d would reach the figure of ten per household, they would come shrink wrapped, i could handle that, but just imagine what it would be like if they came as they do now.

It's doubtful any company is going to agree to have their carefully produced D2D stuffed into a bag with 9 others thus allowing the resipient to throw the whole lot in the bin without opening it.

Re: 100% Call Rate every day
as it is i have seen d2d coming in on tuesday, rarely on wednesday and these attracted enhanced payments, now i bet that d2d will come in any day of the week and you will have to take them for no extra payment and as for business sense thats great d2d done any day for no extra, you wait and see its coming

Why would you be asked to prep and deliver 100% of any D2D in one day.
It would simply cause cutt-offs and o/t which kinda defeats the purpose of getting it done for free.
But your right they could come in any day but you may get 7 days from when they come in as we already do with election material.
