COMING OFF DRIVING

Post by beinspired »

I'm sure this has been covered sometime in the past, but could someone please clarify the following;

if I joined RM as POSTMAN and then became a reserve driver later (VOLUNTARILY), am I entitled to refuse driving duties (with reasonable notice) or do I need a medical reason? What is the official position? Is the changeover a contract?

Do not show your licence or if you need be off right now tell them you keep falling asleep at the wheel in front of all the posties on your section at WTL tell your manager this and his DOM and their is no way they can keep you driving for royalmail as you would be a danger to all. It should not have to come to this if you have a reasonable manager but we all know the score with that one.

I usually get stitched up as a reserve driver, for example, halfway through prepping a walk, then told to drive. Also I find driving a van raises my stress levels (I work in the city)

If park and loop hasn't been introduced in your office now, don't take a driving duty. If you take one please take into account

1) Parking tickets - your responsiblity, not Rm
2) Packets for both walks
3) D2DS.

It will be your job to do it maybe that is why the O/P does not want to do it any more.
