Letter Counting on Collections

At POMC collection drivers have been told that they have to count the number of letters collected from each box tomorrow. We heard that this was a national thing. Does anyone know anything and why we are doing it?

I haven't heard anything about this at Mount Pleasant (not on the vans now though).
But it would take a long time to count all the items in postboxes on collections between 1600-2000,
so I can't see this being asked for.

It'll be with a view to reduce the amount of collections per day. We were told to put full or 3 quarters/ half or 1 third. Any less than 20 we were asked to write down the figure. This is exactly what happened at our unit last year is all I can say. The boxes were hit on the head and only pocl were collected from.

the object is to assist them in achieving their objective which are to privide the bare minimum required, which is 1 collection per day to all boxes appart from POCL boxes.

Your right they are wrong.

I bet their intention is get 1/3 boxes removed meaning that 2 collections can, in RMs opinion, do the previous work of 3 former collection runs.

Best point your colleagues to this thread it may wake them up.
