strike ballot

just a quick question when we were (sold out ) told we had an interim deal and that the strike ballot was still active.

1. is this ballot stilll active and how much notice would the cwu have to give rm of industrial action?

2. what is the time limit for this active vote to expire ? i dont trust rm and if there was an expiry date i'd put money on it they would string it out until then and force the cwu to go through the ballot process again.

It is a moot point whether the ballot is still active or not.

Firstly the CWU will not in my opinion go anywhere near re-enacting the strikes because they fear member support would be weak at best.
Secondly our position has moved on so much from November that if RM went to court a judge would most likely order a re-ballot.

The simple answer is we don't have a clue.
The longer answer involves case law and legal precedent but ultimately we still don't have a clue.

The ballot is probably still valid if both parties signed a agreement that the ballot would be still be active while talks continued. But how many people would strike this time round if the union as us to strike??????

I would always strike if my union asked me to.
The idea of crossing a picket line never enters into my head.

I would strike if I knew what the issue was. Trouble is, from what we've been hearing, most of what is in this agreement won't be worth striking over.
