Todays reply from Postcomm regarding 3pm finish times

Royal Mail have not informed us of any changes to the 2 / 3pm times.

Postcomm’s remit is to protect the one collection and one delivery per day at a uniform price however the times of collection / delivery are not included in our remit, therefore this remains with Royal Mail.

However, Postcomm would not welcome any change that led to a deterioration in service and will monitor the situation. I will highlight your concerns to Postcomm management

We should all voice our concerns let us all bombard postcomm, when do the public and bussines'es get to know of our new way of working ?

if they dont welcome change that gives for a worse service why did they allow royal mail to change us to a 6:15 start a couple of years ago when 5am starts were working fine and people were still getting their mail before they went to work

Whenever anyone complains about their delivery being late I now tell them to email Postcomm and complain to them. Dont know who did the survey they reckon says that customers are happy with a later delivery because Ive not met one yet thats happy about it, and thats finishing around 12.30 most days.

Later delivery times will just deteriorate the service even more. Especially businesses that are awaiting that all important special. The worst thing is that its already happening, even though you tell your dom that you can't get to the destination before 1pm, you still have to deliver it after the guaranteed time slot.

Let the public and businesses complain, they never backed the us(postman) when we were striking, all what we got blah blah blah, as far as i'm concerned they are just as guilty as RM, they should have supported us through the strikes not whinge like spoilt brats. I'm sure they could use alterntive couriers. If they go under it won't be our concern, it down to narrow minded selfish small businesses.

I agree with your sentiments, but small businesses do struggle in the first year to make a profit so they do have a reason to be angry. At the same time the media should be painting a bigger picture, especially last year on why we were striking.

Were still not out of the barrel yet on striking again, so hopefully something good comes out of the agreements that both are having at present.

We all basically know that every person or business would like to have their Mail as early in the day as possible.. So let this be a WARNING to RM - When these other Mail Companys ( i.e. TNT ) etc, start to deliver the Mail which will probably happen within the next few years thats the TARGET AREA they will minipulate and deliver MAIL at the earliest time just like RM used to do back in the good 'ole days.. I think this will be one of RM's worse decisions to follow regarding the later start as we all know in the end they'll change the times back to an early start to then compete with the competition on a level playing field.

why do they want later starts? because the walk sorting machines will be replacing your morning.

and everyone apart from manager buddies will be PT.

and your walk wont be up to 3pm (just like some pt walks) unless your givin more on your walk ..... ohh thats going to go down well in the office.full timers not getting finished for 12.30!! the travesty

You will jsut be starting same time as PTers and probably leaving at the same time.
