Run over delivering mail...

BBC news regional teletext, Wales, states that a 48 yr old woman was run over with her own car when posting mail in St.Mellons, Cardiff.
She had left the keys in her car and the thief got in and ran over her, causing leg fractures. No news of any arrests since.

( Hasn't there been a similar case in the news lately? With all due respect, "quitting" a running car is a Road Traffic Offence,
and...from when I lived there - although it was the "posher" part of St.Mellons - it was bit like downtown Beiruit in parts.
Pity she's been injured, but looks as though her own actions possibly led in some small way to this incident.)
Let's ensure WE don't get ourselves in the same situation, people. Be careful out there!

A bit harsh thunderthighs anyway there's no chance of any of us following in her footsteps.Before you get 10 feet away from your van IB will jump out of the nearest bush and chase you down the conduct code especially if your full-time.
I left mine open on the loading bay without the keys in it for 5 minutes and when i came back Mr IB was sitting in it.

I never ever leave the van running whilst delivering a parcel but others in my office have done this and we lost a van just over a year ago due to the keys being left in the ignition

Also there were repeated cases during the "Big Freeze" when people were warming their cars up.

Again correct:

The offence is against S42 of the RTA 1988. Regulation 107(2)(a). This states that no person shall cause or permit to be on any road any motor vehicle which is not attended by a person duly licensed to drive it unless the engine is stopped and the parking brake is effectively set. Exemptions to the requirements of this Regulation as to the stopping of the engine include a fire brigade vehicle, the engine of which is being used for any fire brigade purpose.
