and part time walks - more ( for god sake 22 hours a week is unlivable)

8am - 2.30pm

everyone in at 8 combined working to be out the door for 10 - 10:30 giving 4 hours for the walks

the quotation " part timers will never be full timers" is the most sickening thing ive ever heard. and ohh arent the current full timers so happy about that fact as they look to that side of the office.

Yep, strongly agree. PT's the way's to go, for RM at least.
25 hrs a week in that place is enuff for any sane person!!!

Think it'll be a National "norm" in 10 -20 yrs time.
As the "Boom and Bust" National economy policies dominate, employers will only employ workers on a "I need you in NOW" basis.

With a growing population, but declining industries - including the Service industry - there will only be FINITE jobs available,
so Job Sharing, PT, and higher unemployment numbers will dominate the workplace.

Perhaps we could return to the days of the docks.
Say 40 people turn up at the DO and the DOM decides he only needs 35 that day.
The other 5 are turned away penniless (or they drive round to the next DO because they hear a rumour that they have got vacancies that day.)
And to ensure we all prep at the right speed perhaps every DO should have a bloke banging a big drum.One beat = one letter.

Actually as I follow Politics fairly well I have noticed over the last few days that Politicians of different hues are starting to question the validity of the recent increase in firms offering only PT hours and contracts.

There is one school of thought in that if more and more workers are on less than 30 hours per week (the arbitrary line used to differentiate FT and PT) then there is less disposable income to help generate growth and consumer confidence, and that it also generates a greater reliance on benefits which will exacerbate the deficit and government borrowing levels. All of this will have a knock on effect on the recovery from the recession making it longer and harder, and more prone to catastrophic effect from any future financial, or even a real and widespread, disaster.

So I was most dismayed when I saw some grey haired banker, wearing clothes more expensive that my weekly take home wage, on the BBC suggesting that the one way of helping the UK would be to cut the up to 300,000 from the Public/Government Work Force.
