i just mean well.. maybe we will get more hours and maybe we wont have to come into a table full of mail that is meant to be prepped up and maybe our over kill walks will be justified bcose everyone els is about to get longer walks.

Or maybe they will sacks some part timers and include there walks in the full timers extra.

i just mean any improvements what so ever for part timers. that you can think of

Cutting off is very easy, its called working the hours you are paid for! If you mean have you got the BALLS to do it then thats up to you, if you want to stay part time for the rest of your working life then carry on. I've cut off where possible for the last 12 years and i don't find it a problem

We may see more opportunity for progression from part time to full time than we have for the last 4 years due to the full time / part time ratio that has been mentioned. I would add that I wouldn't hold your breath though.....as it might have to be negotiated locally. So levels of full timers could vary wildly between offices.

I am saying you have to spend each working minute making sure you never ever make mistakes. I am not saying you should not cut off, or work to time.

Someone, somewhere will need the o/t, and the part-timer can't hold on for the next year hoping and praying that he will get full time soon, because it probably won't ever happen.

If royal mail had a chance they would make everyone part time, because it's more cost effective and dishing out o/t is also cheaper than giving someone a full time contract. Overtime is voluntary, and you are not forced to do it (but some managers will bully you in to doing it).

Plus overtime rate doesn't get paid until AFTER 40 hrs have been worked in the week - irrespective of whether you have a 40 hr contract or a 4 hr contract.
